Lists

Illusion ( (げん) (そう) () Gensōma) is a Type of monster, which debuted in Duelist Nexus.

It appears to be based on the Illusion Magic Alignment from early chapters of the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga, which also featured in Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories and several other video games.

Playing Style

While there have been only four Illusion-type monsters revealed in their premiering set, all four members have the shared effect where "If this card battles a monster, neither monster can be destroyed by that battle." It is currently unknown if this will be an effect carried to future members, but this effect should be planned for deck-building to rely on field permeance. Ideal cards to go with this effect are cards like "Spirit Barrier", which will prevent you from taking battle damage, and "Power of the Guardians", which gives a boost in ATK/DEF each time the equipped monster battles.
