An Effect (Japanese: (こう) () Kōka), also known as Card Effect (カードの (こう) () Kādo no Kōka), is any effect in the game introduced by a specific card, excluding the conditions and costs of that card. Card effects include monster, Spell and Trap effects.

Trivia

  • In the anime (both original Japanese and dubbed), card effects are often called "(special) abilities" (Japanese: ( (とく) (しゅ) ) (のう) (りょく) (Tokushu) Nōryoku).
  • In the manga, they are referred to as both "effects" and "special abilities"; they are also very rarely referred to as "powers".
