Joseph "Joe" Martin Weller^[1] (born: March 2, 1996 (1996-03-02) [age 29]),^[2][3] formerly known as nuevafilms,^[4] is an English^[5] YouTuber, musician, DJ and former amateur boxer.^[6] He is best known for his comedic sketches, football challenges, and music videos on his YouTube channel, as well as for pioneering YouTube boxing with his highly publicized bout against fellow YouTuber KSI.^[7]

Career

Weller's interest in creating videos began during his school years, where he experimented with short films. His first notable content included a parody video titled "How to Be KSI," which earned him thousands of subscribers early on, despite facing some backlash. He later expanded his content to include FIFA gameplay, football challenges, and comedy sketches.^[8]

Weller's content diversification led to his most popular video, a wrestling-themed clip titled "Cristiano Ronaldo vs. Luis Suárez," which helped solidify his place in YouTube's football community.

In 2019, Weller launched the Wafflin’ Podcast alongside his friends Theo Baker and Luke Martin.^[9] The podcast covers a wide range of topics, including current events, pop culture, and personal anecdotes. Weller's laid-back and candid style on the podcast attracted a dedicated following, as he and his co-hosts often dive into deep conversations about mental health, relationships, and life as content creators.^[10]

In 2024, Weller appeared as a contestant in the Sidemen reality competition series Inside. The series features 10 guests who compete in challenges to secure a prize fund totalled at £1 million, with everything they buy or do costing money from the prize fund. He was eliminated on the third day.^[11]

On March 8, 2025, Weller participated in the 2025 Sidemen Charity Match, held at Wembley Stadium in London, United Kingdom, playing for team Sidemen F.C.. He managed to score two penalties and a goal.^[12]

Music career

Weller has a side career in house music. He has a total of 10 original songs uploaded on his channel, many of which are based on football. These songs include "Ronaldo Chop",^[13] and the "World Cup Song".^[14]

Weller also has three non-related football songs on his channel, "Wanna Do",^[15] "Far from You",^[16] "Queen and a Double",^[17] and "Mission",^[18] "Wanna Do" was in the Top 30 in the UK Charts and it is also Weller's highest charted song.^[19]

Joe Weller vs. KSI

On August 2, 2017, a video was uploaded to Weller's YouTube channel titled “BOXING MATCH: Joe Weller Vs Malfoy”.^[20] In the video Weller and English YouTuber Theo Baker have an amateur boxing match consisting of 3 rounds. Weller won the match on points after putting Baker in for 2 standing counts from the referee.^[21] Weller made a post on Instagram promoting the Malfoy fight. KSI responded to the post with a comment “Lemme fight the winner haha.” It was then confirmed on August 14, nearly 2 weeks later on Weller's Twitter that negotiations were underway.^[22] Then it was later confirmed that Weller and KSI would have a press conference at KSI’s own YouTube event, “Upload”.^[23]

On September 10, Weller and KSI had a press conference at The Upload Event at 4:30, which was livestreamed to YouTube via The Upload channel.^[24][25] As the press conference came to an end they both had a face off. In which KSI taunted Weller about his looks and then remarked “Do you need drugs? Do you need drugs to stay sane?” which was aimed at Weller’s previous mental health and depression issues. Then Weller exclaimed “Imagine 8000 people seeing your head crushed against the canvas, as Weller lifts his hands up!” and then shoulder barges KSI across the stage and causes a brawl between KSI and the friends or "goons" of Weller but they later subdued him. The next day Weller tweeted “Mental health is not a joke”.^[26][27]

Weller lost the fight 1 minute and 37 seconds into the third round by way of technical knockout. KSI expressed his respect for Weller after the fight for being "way harder, way tougher than I thought," and praised him for his commitment to raising awareness for mental health.^[7]

Professional career

Cancelled Behzinga fight

On October 14, 2023, Weller appeared on True Geordie watch-along for the KSI vs. Tommy Fury event when he confronted he's returning to the ring calling out English YouTubers Behzinga, Ed Matthews and Deji.^[28] On October 19, Behzinga confronted on the Growing Paynes Podcast that he is down to fight Weller on Misfits in 3 or 4 months time.^[29] Ethan followed up with; "I do think I can [fight him]. I do think I could [win]. I think it would be a headliner. It has to be its like two massive UK YouTubers it has to be a headliner there's no way it could be."^[30] Weller responded to this on Twitter saying "LET’S GOOOOOO BEHZINGYYY BOYYYY".^[31] Many YouTubers including True Geordie, Fangs and many others said that they wanted to see Joe Weller vs. Behzinga.^[32][33] On October 29, Weller did a call out video on Behzinga.^[34]

During the MF & DAZN: X Series 11 broadcast, Weller officially called out Behzinga to a boxing match at Wembley Arena.^[35] In December 2023, Ethan declined the initial offer presented from Misfits to fight Weller. Behzinga emphasized that he believes his value is higher and desires more favourable terms.^[36] According to Kalle Sauerland, Weller vs. Behzinga is closing in.^[37] Ethan stated on SideCast that it’s not Misfits fault, but down to breakdown in communication with DAZN, as they aren’t paying him what he deserves.^[38] Ethan has confirmed he may still fight Weller, depending on if the offer changes.^[39] On February 8, 2024, Mams Taylor gave an update on Behzinga vs. Weller; “Very soon you’ll have an update either way. I think it's got to make sense for the both of them and I think Im finally in a place where I can make it make sense.”^[40] In April 2024, KSI conformed that Ethan and Weller will no longer be happen due to failed negotiations despite MFB offering what Behzinga wanted.^[41]

The World Cup Song

In 2014, Joe made a song named 'The World Cup Song' featuring Randolph and KSI. It got a bit of public backlash, as Joe dressing as Mario Balotelli was deemed by the viewers as racist.^[44]
