Oladeji Olawale Olatunde Daniel "Deji" Olatunji[1][2] (born: December 9, 1996 (1996-12-09) [age 28])[3] also known online as ComedyShortsGamer (abbreviated as CSG)[4], is an English[5] YouTube vlogger, musician, rapper and professional boxer. He is the younger brother of KSI.[6]

Early life

Deji was born on the 9th December 1996 in Watford and was raised in Watford, Hertfordshire.[7] His father, Jide Adamulla Olatunji, originates from Ibadan, Nigeria. His mother, Yinka Atinuke, is from Islington, London. He is the younger brother of Olajide Olatunji, also known as KSI.[6]

History

Deji joined YouTube in 2011 using the pseudonym "ComedyShortsGamer."[8] He uploaded videos comprising gaming commentary along with pranks, comedic skits and viral challenges.[9] Compared to KSI's content, Deji's videos have been described as more focused on comedy than gaming.[9] Several of his videos feature him pranking his family, such as him telling his mother he impregnated a girl and telling his father that a house he worked on for two years burned down.[10][11]

Considered alongside his brother's content as "among the most popular on the site",[12] Deji's videos have been featured in outlets such as The Daily Dot,[4] The Huffington Post UK[13] and HobbyConsolas.[14] Insider ranked Deji as one of the most popular YouTube personalities in the United Kingdom,[15] and he was ranked second on the Tubular Labs list of the "UK's Most Influential YouTube Creators"; his brother was ranked first.[16] However, Olatunji's prank videos have received minor criticism, with Austin Powell of The Daily Dot calling one of his pranks "a failed attempt at humor".[4]

In 2018, after KSI called out the Paul brothers after his fight with Joe Weller, Deji wanted to fight Jake Paul, with JJ then deciding to fight Logan Paul as a result. Jake agreed and they were set to fight on 25 August 2018.[17][18] There were two press conferences, in which both Jake and Deji insulted and goaded each other. A few days before the fight, Deji showed up at one of Jake and Logan Paul's meet and greets, Jake responded by slapping Deji in the face.[19]

Jake won the boxing match, but Deji was well praised as he had fought well and made his fans proud after giving him a bloody nose. When Deji was in LA to make an appearance on Logan Paul's podcast "Impaulsive", Jake said he would accept Deji's request for a sparring rematch at his place, but Deji didn't go because he was advised not to.[20]

In 2018, Deji and American YouTuber Jake Paul was challenged by American YouTuber FOUSEY to set foot in the boxing ring.[21] It was Deji who initially called out Fousey during a livestream in mid-August, claiming that his potential opponent was “nowhere near ready”. Deji later reacted to a video of Fousey sparring with fellow YouTuber Alex Wassabi on August 26, where he roasted Fousey’s boxing skills and claimed that he wanted to fly to Los Angeles to fight him.[22]

Fousey lashed out at Deji in a series of scathing Twitter posts, where he called Deji the “biggest bitch on YouTube” and even referenced his ongoing family feud with KSI.[23] On May 18, 2021 at the YouTubers vs. TikTokers press conference, Deji called Fousey an "easy fight". Before the weigh-in, there was an altercation backstage between Deji and Fousey.[24]

On 31 July 2022, it was announced that Deji will be fighting Fousey on the undercard of MF & DAZN: X Series 001: KSI vs. Swarmz and KSI vs. Luis Alcaraz Pineda on 27 August, 2022 at the O2 Arena in London.[25] On the night of the fight, Deji defeated Fousey in the 3rd round via TKO, claiming his first win in his boxing career.[26] Deji then proceeded to call out American TikTok star and YouTuber Bryce Hall.[27]

On 10 December 2022, Deji releases a video titled "HIT ME = $100".[28] In the video a fan asked him when his next fight, which Deji conformed March 2023. On 17 January 2023, Deji's boxing coach Daley Perales was interview by Boxing King Media where he shared that Deji is hoping to be fighting in April 2023 and teasing who his opponent might be by name dropping British musician and YouTuber Swarmz as a potential opponent.[29] Deji is reportedly returning to the ring for MF & DAZN: X Series 007,[30] and has already found an opponent for 13 May.[31] On 10 March, KSI reveals that Deji vs. Swarmz is close to finalizing a deal to fight on MF & DAZN: X Series 007 in London.[32]

On 13 April, it was announced that Deji is scheduled to fight Swarmz on 13 May 2023 as the co-main event fight on the card of MF & DAZN: X Series 007: KSI vs. Joe Fournier.[33][34] On the fight of the night, Deji defeated Swarmz via unanimous decision.[35] Deji then proceeded to call out British musician Liam Payne.[36]

Deji vs. Dawood Savage

On October 14, 2024, Deji revealed that his original schedule opponent withdrew from the bout and is currently looking for a new one for MF & DAZN: X Series 19 – Qatar: The Supercard on November 28 at the Lusail Sports Arena in Doha, Qatar.[37] On November 21, it was announced that Deji is scheduled to face Saudi Arabian YouTuber Dawood Savage on November 28 on MF & DAZN: X Series 19 – Qatar: The Supercard.[38] On the night of the fight, Deji defeated Savage via third round kockout.[39]

In March 2021, Deji announced that he will be making his boxing return. It was confirmed that on June 5, 2021.[40] Deji would be boxing against American TikTok star Vinnie Hacker in the undercard of the YouTube vs. TikTok Battle of the Platforms boxing event.[41] In May 2021, there was a press conference for the event in which Deji and AnEsonGib was on a computer since he couldn't arrive at the press conference venue.[42]

On June 12, Deji was defeated by Hacker via 3rd round TKO. This was a huge upset to the UK YouTube community, who expected Deji to win. After the fight, Hacker was humble and checked if Deji was okay. Majority of people supported Deji and later he uploaded a video titled "see you soon" in which he stated he was taking a break to work of himself.[43] The video gained 4 million views in a week. However, 3 days after the fight, KSI uploaded a video titled "Deji" in which he criticizes Deji and his team for not working hard enough and underestimating Vinnie.[44] 2 days later KSI uploaded a photo with Deji, showing that they had reunited.[45]

On December 2, 2021, Deji announced that he will be making his boxing return. It was confirmed that on March 5, 2022.[46] On January 12, 2022, Deji would be boxing against American YouTuber Alex Wassabi in the main event of Showstar Boxing UK vs. USA boxing event at the SSE Arena, Wembley, London, England.[47] On the night of event, Deji was defeated by Wassabi via split decision.[48]

Majority of people supported Deji and later he uploaded a video titled "what is next" in which he stated he getting back in the ring soon.[49] The video gained 2 million views in a week. However, 3 days after the fight, KSI uploaded a video titled "My Thoughts On Deji Losing" in which he criticizes Deji and his team for not working hard enough and underestimating Wassabi.[50]

Deji vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

On 15 September 2022 it was reported by Mirror Fighting that American five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Deji were in the final stages of negotiations for an exhibition bout in Dubai for the 13th of November.[51]

On 20 September, it was announced that Global Titans Fight Series' next event is set for 13 November at the Coca-Cola Arena, Dubai, UAE.[52] On September 26, 2022, Deji officially announce he is fighting Mayweather Jr. in a video titled "I AM FACING FLOYD MAYWEATHER".[53] On the night of the fight, Deji was defeated by Mayweather Jr. via technical knockout in the sixth round, however Deji gave Mayweather a black eye.[54] In his post-fight interview, Mayweather praised his opponent, saying: "Deji, you a tough competitor, i'm proud of you, keep up the great work." Deji then proceeded to call out musicians Justin Bieber and Liam Payne.[55]

After the fight Deji made a video called "i gave floyd mayweather a black eye".[56] In the video Deji claimed: “I had people from the Money team, Floyd’s team being like, ‘bro, Deji, Floyd just wants to go in there and just have a little fun with you. He’s not gonna hit you hard or anything, I promise, you have my word on that bro’. “And then he also told me that when you get to a clinch, just tell Floyd like, relax a little bit and he will, and he’ll relax on the power. I remember I clinched him and I’m like, ‘bruh, relax’, and you know what he said to me? ‘Shut up, I’m Floyd Mayweather, I do what I want’. “So I’m just like okay, cool, I’m like screw it, I’m here now, let’s bang, let’s fight and yeah.”[56]

Controversies

Audi TT Car Crash

On 3 September 2016, Deji was involved in a car crash. Deji released videos in which he showed pictures of the car and explained his injuries and what happened.[57] The accident happened when Deji lost control of his Audi TT and crashed with his friend Stephen in the car. Doctors said this accident could have been fatal if the car were any less safe however Deji left the accident with only 9 stitches on his arm and leg and Stephen unharmed.[58]

Feuds with YouTubers

Miniminter

Deji uploaded a diss track targeting the entirety of the Sidemen group (despite only having beef with Simon via Twitter) on August 11. He "dissed" all five remaining members of the group.[59] Simon uploaded a video reacting to the track along with Vik, Josh and Ethan the same day.[60]

On August 12, Simon uploaded his diss track in response to Deji's titled "KSI'S LITTLE BROTHER - DEJI DISS TRACK".[61] Deji subsequently uploaded his reaction to the track on August 13.[62]

On August 20, Deji uploaded a second diss track directed at Miniminter, titled "Ungrateful".[63]

This track once again brought about accusations of drug use which Simon denied in his reaction. Despite criticizing the track due to its "weak bars" and false information, Simon said he would not respond to any more diss tracks.[64] In a video on September 3, in which Deji and KSI reacted to diss tracks, Deji explained that "Ungrateful" was actually targeted at both Simon and Harry, and that the drug accusations were directed towards him, not Simon.[65]

Vikkstar123

On August 15, Vikkstar123 dropped his own diss track against Deji - something Deji said would never happen - called "THE END".[66]

Nevertheless, Deji "reacted" to Vik's track, took it personally, got triggered, and said he'd make a new track aimed solely at Vik. Vik said that he will not be making another one, as the first was just a joke.[67]

Slim Albaher

After Slim Albaher defeated FOUSEY, he challenged AnEsonGib, KSI and Deji. Out of these three, Deji replied by saying that he would love to end Slim. In February 2020, Slim released a diss track on Deji titled "War" to which Deji didn't replied.[68] On 18 May 2021, Slim was in the crowd of the YouTube vs TikTok boxing press conference. Fousey questioned Deji about not fighting to Slim and Deji replied that he doesn't know Slim. Then Slim got angry and yelled that Deji chose an easy fight to which Deji replied Slim is an easy fight. During the open workout of the 27 August event, Slim and Deji hugged and ended their two-year long rivalry.[69]

Randolph

In a "Sidemen Sunday" video posted on 18 November 2018, Randolph was asked which YouTube channel he thought was "dead". He responded saying "Deji". This was an obvious joke.[70] Proving Randolph's point, Deji immediately made a video calling him "a slave of KSI" and doing everything for him.

After this, Randoph made a video in response saying that it was just a simple joke, and he released a diss-track Manchild aimed at Deji on 24 November 2018.[71] Deji posted a reaction video to this diss-track on the same day.[72] Deji then began work on his own diss-track RAN, which he posted on 26 November 2018. In the video (while talking about how KSI paid for Randolph's wedding) Deji leaked JJ's personal bank details.[73]

Randolph then released a second diss track on 30 November 2018, titled Victory Speech.[74] Deji's reaction to the track caused him to get in a further beef with JJ himself.[75] Randolph made a video on 7 December 2018 where he "ended it" and that he wasn't going to acknowledge Deji's "begs for attention" any longer. He admitted he only released the diss-tracks for money and attention, and did not expect it to get so out of hand.[76]

In early 2022, Deji and Randolph ended their three-year long rivalry.[77]

Keemstar

On May 23, 2020, Deji uploaded a video called "My Experience with Keemstar" outlining his history with Keemstar.[78]

2018 Esports Awards

Pulling the jebait wasn’t the only thing Deji did on stage, as he also called out Twitch for allowing free streams of his brother KSI’s fight with Logan Paul to happen, “Yo, shoutout to Twitch for illegally streaming our fight, you owe us money! Woo!”[79]

Deji vs KSI Drama

The beef between Deji and Randolph spilled over between Deji and KSI when JJ reacted to both Randolph and Deji's diss tracks and affirmed the truth of Randolph's disses whilst calling out Deji, as well as their parents, for exposing his private bank account in Deji's diss track.[80] Deji then responded with a video saying that JJ had taken Randolph's side and that it was an unfair beef with 6 against 1. Deji then went on to say that he never got a girl pregnant but then commented that JJ had, fuelling the drama between them.[81] This escalated further when Deji tweeted out that JJ had blocked him on social media and JJ responded by tweeting "get rid of negative delusional people, even if they are family" although this was deleted shortly after.[81]

Deji then released a video calling out JJ for preferring his friends over his family and describing his brother as having a god complex.[81] JJ immediately tweeted that he loved his brother and made a video apologizing for certain things.[81] However, Deji then uploaded a diss track titled "Unforgivable" with Jallow, Dax, and Crypt.[81] Some of the disses were calling out the fact that JJ had gotten a girl pregnant and had abortions, though the diss track was made before JJ's video apologizing to certain things was released and Deji uploaded the diss track to keep things fair for the people featured in it. The apologetic tweets and video by JJ were deleted shortly after.[81] Deji went on the Logan Paul podcast "Impaulsive" to explain the situation and called JJ manipulative and his The Sidemen fake, only having JJ's back on the surface but not genuinely.[82]

On December 25, JJ went to his family home, but there were disagreements in their conversation, which resulted in a fight between him and Deji.[83] JJ claimed on Twitter that Deji had kicked him out while their parents just stood there and watched, and Deji threatening to call the cops if he didn't leave.[83] Deji tweeted that JJ threatened to smash his computer to make him delete the diss track.[83] Deji also stated that JJ attacked their mom and insulted both of their parents. Deji later that day made another video titled "My bro" calling him a bully, manipulative, and accusing him of attacking and making their parents cry. The video was later deleted, and it is speculated that it was due to subscriber loss.[83]

As a result, Deji lost thousands of subscribers from the drama with his brother, due to him uploading more videos talking about the situation.[81] On 6 January 2019, Deji uploaded an apology video to JJ for his actions, and he deleted the "Unforgivable" diss track, thus "ending" the drama.[81]

However, on 2 May, the drama between the two was reignited when Deji made his diss track that was thought to be deleted, public once again on YouTube.[81] On the 25 May, he uploaded a serious video, explaining on why he made his diss track public again, and talking about suffering with the psychical abuse from his brother and suicidal thoughts as a result of the latest drama situation.[84] He also called JJ out for forgetting their Mum's birthday.[84] On 30 May, he made a follow up video called "he's gone too far", where Deji once again called out his brother for trying to find 'dirt' on him for a response video, and threatened his brother with a lawsuit if JJ lied about him.[81]

On 3 June, JJ finally responded to Deji with a video titled "Ending it all".[85] JJ disputed and confuted all of Deji's claims about him and showed Deji's manipulation and hypocrisy.[85] In the same video, he also apologized to Deji about past videos involving violence and for sleeping with the girl that Deji had liked, stating that he didn't know her.[85] The video triggered another huge subscriber loss to Deji while JJ began to regain his subscriber loss.[81] The next day, Deji uploaded a video titled "moving on", where he stated that the drama was "over" and that he would keep things private with his brother from that point onwards.[81] However on 18 June, Deji uploaded a video titled "i can't do this anymore", where he came forward and voiced how he was suffering from mental health problems and called JJ out for lying about the woman he slept with.[81] He later had a breakdown and begged people to stop seeing him as a "bad guy".[81] The next day Deji went live on Twitch and told his viewers that he finally agreed to attend therapy with his brother and said he would take some time off the internet to focus on getting better mentally.[81]

It appeared that the drama was over after Deji voiced support for his brother in the boxing rematch against Logan Paul.[81] From that point, there were random, subtle digs at each other in both of their videos.[81] When Deji released his video reacting to JJ reacting to 'Unforgivable', he was subject to a lot of hate and lost around 80,000 subscribers, dropping his sub count from 10,000,000 to 9.92 million.[86]

On 13 May, JJ stated in the Mom's Basement Podcast that there was just no clarity about the issues between him and Deji.[87] JJ said he went to their parents' home but him and Deji did not say one word to each other the whole time.[87]

On 13 December, Deji uploaded a video to his main channel titled "It's Time To Open Up", sponsored by the Movember Foundation, which aims to encourage men to speak up about their struggles and issues regarding their mental health.[88] In the video, Deji starts to get personal and opens up about how he was feeling during the entire feud with JJ.[88] He expressed how he always felt like he was in his brother's shadow and his accomplishments could never amount to his.[88] He explained that his struggles with his own feelings was the reason why he kept going back and forth on his word, uploading videos either bashing JJ, or publicly stating he wanted to move on, as well as privating, then publicizing his diss track on him.[88] Deji breaks down while apologizing to JJ over and over again in the video, promising that he would never turn his back on him again.[88]

Since it's upload, Deji had been receiving positive attention left and right, and his viewers started to message him explaining their own struggles, in which was showcased in a follow-up video on 31 January 2021, titled "REACTING TO YOUR COMMENTS".[89] And since then, Deji has been actively supporting JJ and talking to his audience about how much he truly appreciated him. With that, it seems that Deji is much happier.[90]

#SaveTank

On December 17, 2019, Deji announced his dog, Tank, was going to be put down for biting an elderly neighbor that took place back in July 23, 2018.[91] Deji was fined, while his mother was ordered to pay the victims compensation. After Tank was seized by the police, the court said she did not feel able to take the dog off a lead. She said while most dogs accept a muzzle, she found Tank "was very frightened with the attempts to muzzle him". As well as ordering the destruction of the dog, Deji's mother had to pay £8,000 of compensation to the victim. He also gave her a 12-month community order and 80 hours unpaid work. Deji was fined £2,500, while both were also ordered to pay kennelling costs and given a restraining order from contacting the victims for four years. The Olatunji family had 28 days from Friday to appeal against the decision to destroy the dog. Deji initially denied owning the German Shepherd dog Tank in the September 2019 hearing to avoid punishment.[92][93]

Covid-19 Controversy

On April 5th, 2020, Deji uploaded a video titled "I think I have COVID-19",[94] where he informed his fans that he got sick from his parents and he believed that he caught the coronavirus from them. Many fans accused him of click baiting Covid-19 for the sake of views. Deji denied the claims that he click baited the virus for views and how he didn't get tested to prove he had it. His brother KSI called out a YouTuber for clickbait, which people speculated he called out Deji for click baiting the virus. Two days later he uploaded another video titled "I need to end this", where he explained that that he was afraid of getting the virus due to having asthma, and only wanting to make the video to inform his fans. He also addressed the rumors that his brother didn't call him out for click baiting and called out a different YouTuber.[95]

Sub Botting Allegations

On May 17th, 2020, a botting site known as FreeWay Social posted a video claiming that Deji has bought 50,000 subscriber bots from them for his YouTube channel in order to reach ten million subscribers. The owner of FreeWay Social claimed that Deji placed two orders from the website, where he bought 10,000 subs on March 22nd and he bought 40,000 subs on March 23rd. The owner claims that Deji has spent almost £2,000 on the website alone. The owner then said that when Deji started losing subscribers, he reported the recent payment to PayPal, believing that the accounts that unsubscribed were FreeWay Social accounts. The owner then explained that he tried to tell Deji that it was actually his own legitimate subscribers that were unsubcribing, but Deji ignored him and PayPal refunded Deji.[96]

Deji made a response video to the allegations claiming that he never heard of the website, that he never sub botted, and that it wasn't his ip address.[97]

The American YouTuber Keemstar and English YouTuber Kavos made videos showing proof and evidence that Deji most likely sub botted his channel.[98][99]

John Swan, who has been covering Deji's controversies for months (#SaveTank & Coronavirus Controversy) collaborated with Nicholas DeOrio to a video where they covered most of the drama. They even gave Deji the benefit of the doubt and that he didn't buy any subs, though they listed the conditions.

Nicholas DeOrio: "First things first, someone that really hates Deji would have had to be in possession of a spare $2000. This person would be going into this with no guarantees of getting that money back."

John Swan: "Then they would have to purchase $2,000 worth of YouTube subscribers from a sketchy company using an email linked to one of Deji's obscure real estate properties. Not only this but the person would have to have an account with BT internet and would have had to have completely guessed a recovery email linking to Deji's mum, which just out of pure luck happened to be a real one.

Nick: "This person would not only have to be in the UK but they would also have to be from the same area as Deji as the IP listed in the order could not have come from a VPN. The person also would have had to have had the foresight to register a Skype account using Deji's dad's name just in case someone would have happened to check it.

John: "The person would also need to have the greatest luck in the world because just mere days after hitting 10 million, Deji uploaded his COVID-19 video which backfired on him whereupon he started bleeding subscribers. The person who bought these subscribers would then have to charge back FreewaySocial and would have to predict that they would make a video outing Deji.

Nick: "From here on out, the troll would have had to bet that everyone would connect the dots to the real estate business, the BT Internet recovery email, and even the Skype name. The person who did this amazing troll would have had to have been the most humble person on planet earth because, even though they accomplished arguably the biggest stunt in YouTube history, no one has come forward to take credit for it."

John: "Like if this actually happened, this would be something Justin Wang would cover in a few years in Tales from the Internet. It is just so bizarre and positively absurd that all of this worked out in the way that it did. So you can choose to believe that or you can choose to believe that Deji was so tired of not being at 10 million subscribers that he botted them himself. The choice is yours."

However, John Swan has been recorded lying about large YouTubers (such as Dream) so it's somewhat likely he said this in a very manipulative accusatory manner on purpose. Nick however, has much more credibility.[100]

Dunjahh Drama

On January 28, 2022, Deji announced that was forced by himself to broke up with his girlfriend Dunjahh due to controversies involving saying racial remarks to a black person on a E-Date show that went out of order and hard to watch for Deji.[101] Though he revealed that they broke up mutually early in December due to Deji focusing on his YouTube and boxing career and can't have the time for her at all and went separate ways.[102] Dunjahh responded to this situation, but her and Deji's fans did not take the apology as genuine or be taken seriously and took a lot of more backlash afterwards.[103] KSI also very briefly responded to the situation and took it very personal to himself and towards her for dating his brother.[104]

10 Million Subscribers and the eventual 3 Diamond Play Buttons

On August 8, 2020, JJ made a Reddit video called "What is my bro doing?", he ended up countering a Reddit post of him achieving 10 million subs with jokingly involving Deji into this with a crying cat thumbs up-ing in the image when in reality, he was still stuck at 9.6 million subs.[105] JJ then decided that he had enough and convinced his viewers to subscribe to Deji to get him on 10 million without any drama or beef involved.[105] Deji would achieve that in less than 7-11 minutes when the video was up.[105]

The next day on August 9, 2020, Deji uploaded a milestone video for the achievement that he has gathered by getting himself 10 million subs, called "WE DID IT", thanking his brother for doing this for him and thanking everyone for subscribing.[106]

It would take him about a month and a half as in September 26, 2020, he uploaded a video called "FINALLY GOT THE DIAMOND PLAY BUTTON!!!!!!!" and recieved his first ever Diamond Play Button with "Deji" written on it, an achievement that he wanted to gather, but was stated that It wasn't his achievement, but also his viewers' achievement aswell.[107]

On October 13, 2020, Deji made a video called "I Got Another Diamond Play Button?".[108] As the title suggests, he would recieve 2 Diamond Play Buttons supposedly out of nowhere as a surprise from YouTube, one with "ComedyShortsGamer" on it and one that has "Deji and ComedyShortsGamer" as a trophy like diamond button, making him own 3 Diamond Play Buttons now.[108]
