The Melancholy of Giant Salaryman Miyazawa (Japanese: 巨大サラリーマン宮沢さんの憂鬱 Kyodai Sararīman Miyazawa-san no Yūutsu), is the 2nd episode of the Y School Heroes anime series. It was broadcasted in Japan on January 10, 2020.
Summary
School life resumes at Y-Academy for Mataro, Jinpei and the rest of the YSP club members. That is when one day, a giant salaryman named Mr. Miyazawa suddenly appears at the school leading to rumours where he peeps at the women's changing room. The YSP Club takes on the case as he has been certified as one of the school's Seven Academy Mysteries, when Fubuki's classmate Akane approaches them.
Plot
One month after a huge meteor almost hit Y-Academy, the peaceful school resumes as usual from usual classes to heated all-school battle royale with cleaning supplies. Though today's ruckus is peacefully resolved with Mataro's "froggy" underpants, the latter gets frightened to his wits when the student body sees for themselves, a giant salaryman! The events get narrated by Mataro, the straight-man to Jinpei's rapping puns while admiring his heroic motivation throughout the supernatural cases all happening in this school.Such cases are handled by the YSP Club, whom Jinpei and Mataro are members off. They identify the giant man as Mr. Miyazawa, one of the Academy's Seven Mysteries and pattern out his route from the usual sightings. Then, a young girl named Akane appears at the club room, who appears interested at the group while they head down the corridor to the art room where Mr. Miyazawa is to be next sighted from his patterned route. They run into the student council and their president, Ranto Kirigakure, who promptly rejects the club as a potential discredit to the school's reputation, and warns the club they will be disbanded if deemed futile, for Ranto posses the same level of authority as the academy's headmaster.
In the art room, the gang stakes out when Mr. Miyazawa slowly appears as predicted. Jinpei, Sandayu and Mataro use Fubuki's "spring gear" invention to bounce around and make him fall by lassoing rope around his legs. To the club's surprise, the salaryman introduces himself as Akane's father, where she despises him for always worrying his family and becoming an inadequate father because of work. Through these thoughts of Akane wanting her father to become "bigger and better", that wish came true after the day he died from getting crushed by wooden blocks.
Behind the scene, Haruhiko Usumizawa silently picks a strand from his hair and blows it on Mr. Miyazawa, conversing him into the Cyclops Onryo. Feeling the need to even the odds, Jinpei calls Ms. Enra to deploy Gakkouger Y, who denies the request as it is undergoing repairs from the previous movie events. The situation is left handled as man-to-giant, as Jinpei and Mera transforms into Kengo Benimaru and Shishi O. Their attacks do no damage, which leaves the rest to think the Cyclops's weakness is its horn. Benimaru does the finishing job, as the Cyclops reverts back to normal Mr. Miyazawa and its energy converted into 3 Y-Medals.
Wanting to apologize to his daughter for embarrassing her again, Mr. Miyazawa's is surprised when it is Akane who apologizes to him back. She explains that after her father's death, one of his workers visited the household and explained how a generous superior he was, being there for others whenever he makes a mistake during business. He remorsefully apologizes how it was his fault Mr. Miyazawa died for not paying attention, and sacrificed himself from the falling planks. Akane and her mother are teared by the explanation, which made Akane feel sorry for what she said before. Both father and daughter tearfully reconcile as Mr. Miyazawa reverts back to normal size.
