Skills (Japanese: スキル, sukiru) are a battle mechanic in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Future Redeemed.
Overview
They are unlocked by reaching certain Class Ranks in certain Classes. Ranking up a class earns new Arts or Skills.

Master Skills
Once a Character has ranked up a Class, the controlled characters can use certain Arts from that class even if they change to another Class. This is called a Master Skill. For example, if Noah uses the Tactician class, he will be able to use some of that class' Skills even if he changes back to Swordfighter. Unlike Master Arts, Skills can be equipped regardless of the class' affiliation with Keves or Agnus.
Upon reaching Rank 5 in a class, one of the Master Skills will be unlocked. The second Master Skill is unlocked at Rank 15.
Each character has 3 Master Skill slots available to them, with the first being accessible by default, the second unlocking at level 30, and the third unlocking at level 50.
The Soulhacker class cannot use Master Skills, and the only Master Skill from the class is Soul Hack, which is unlocked at Rank 10.

Future Redeemed
In Future Redeemed, skills are acquired by spending Affinity Points in each character's Affinity Growth. Each character can unlock 4 class skills, which each can be upgraded a maximum of 2 times to increase their effects.
Additionally, each character has an Initiative Effect skill, which grants a certain buff to the party, or inflicts a combo reaction on the enemy when beginning the battle with an attack from a specified direction.
Each character also has several other skills that cannot be upgraded, but offer stat increases or unique effects.
Na'el has 4 skills unique to her class, War Mage, but as she does not possess an Affinity Growth, these skills are unlocked immediately, but they cannot be upgraded. She does not posses an Initiative Effect or any unnamed skills either.
