Escort is a Linear game mode featured in XDefiant. Escort is one of the five game modes released at launch, and is featured in Ranked.

Overview

The objective of Escort is for the offensive team to deliver a four-legged, mobile payload (known as Carlos^[1] or simply Package) on a fixed path to the final objective while the defending team attempts to prevent this. The offensive team escorts the payload when an offensive player is within its vicinity. The defending team can halt movement of the payload by being in its vicinity. If the payload has not been interacted with by the offensive team for 30 seconds, the payload will move backwards. The attackers have ten minutes initially to capture each sector, with each captured sector adding additional time to the clock.

Along the fixed path for the payload, checkpoints offer a hard barrier, preventing a reversing payload from going further than that checkpoint. Reaching a checkpoint also shifts the spawn point of the offending team forward and the defending team backward, relative to the checkpoint.

Once the round has ended, the team roles are switched between attacking and defending. The now-attacking team must escort the payload to where the previous round payload had ended up at, in less time than the first attacking team.
