The Zolders are the footsoldiers of the Black Cross Army and recurring antagonists in Himitsu Sentai Gorenger.
Biographies
After the UN forms EAGLE to oppose the Black Cross Army, the Black Cross Führer sends five Masked Monsters to lead battalions of Zolders in assaulting EAGLE bases and massacring everyone inside. He is first seen when ambushing some practicing soldiers outside the Kanto EAGLE Base before he and his Zoldiers storm the building and slaughter everyone there except for Tsuyoshi Kaijo. Believing EAGLE to be neutralised, the Führer announces the next stage of the Black Cross Army's worldwide operation whilst Gold Mask and his Zolders kidnap a bus full of kindergarteners to blow them up inside a warehouse. Naturally, the Goranger's are sent to rescue the children which they do successfully. When Tsuyoshi tries to follow the Black Cross Army, Gold Mask attacks in hopes of snuffing out the hero but fails when the other Gorangers show up and kill his Zolders.
Specialized divisions have also been created such as the Black Cross Army Ninja Team who specialize in subversion and infiltration and the Africa Gundan, an elite corps of soldiers who serve Commander-in-Chief Golden Mask. There is also a squad of mystics who serve Black Cross Führer and are adapt at the Black Arts. Dozens of Zolders participate in the final battle between the Black Cross Führer, Commander-in-Chief Golden Mask and the Gorangers but all are swiftly killed. Many other Zolders are killed when the Black Cross Castle is destroyed but many more Zolders remain at large due to being in other countries.
J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai
Many Zolders are recruited by CRIME, the organization fighting the J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai, and assist during their schemes of world conquest. They are part of the revived CRIME, consisting of remnants of CRIME and the Black Cross Army, which is wiped out by J.A.K.Q. and the Gorengers.
Gokaiger
Several Zolders are part of an army of past enemy grunts fought by the Gokaigers in Los Dark's ghost dimension which houses the 1500 spirits of the villains defeated by the Super Sentai. After losing some of their number in an initial skirmish, the remaining members from each grunt group merged to form the Combined Combatant. Though the stronger opponent, the Combined Combatant proves to be unstable due to internal conflicting among the grunts composing him over who got to finish the pirates off. Taking advantage, the Gokaigers use the Battle Fever J Ranger Keys to destroy the Combined Combatant with the Penta Force cannon.
Zenkaiger
After breaking his seal and escaping from the Agastia Base, Asmodeus summons the Kamen Rider and Super Sentai books from off the shelves and uses them to call forth an army of villains previously defeated by the Kamen Riders and Super Sentai which include a platoon of Zolders. Many are destroyed but most of the Zolders survive long enough to see Asmodeus' plans seemingly come to fruition until Touma Kamiyama manages to help Shotaro himself regain his passion for drawing out superheroes which, in turn, revives all of the Kamen Riders and the Super Sentai teams back into existence. Ultimately, the entire army itself is be wiped out by the full and combined might of Kamen Rider Saber as well as his fellow swordsmen and the Zenkaigers along with Zocks Goldtsuiker supported by the Kamen Riders and the previous Red Rangers.
Powers and Abilities
- Strength: The Zolders were built with inhuman strength, allowing them to beat down the Gorangers.
- Sight: The Zolders were able to see despite being completely faceless.
- Poison Immunity: The Zolders accompanying Poison Gas Mask in his attack on the Kansai EAGLE Base were not asphyxiated or even affected by his gas.
- Super Speed: The Zolders could run at inhuman speeds to strike thier enemies.
- Combination: As seen in Gokaiger, the Zolders could fuse with the other footsoldiers to form the Combined Combatant.
Arsenal
- Swords: All Zolders wielded small iron swords in battle.
- Grenades: For ranged attacks, Zolders could throw grenades to try and attack the Gorangers. They used these extensively during thier initial attacks on the EAGLE Bases.
- Machine Guns: Some Zolders wielded machine guns in battle.
- Bazookas: A very small number of Zolders could use bazookas in ranged attacks.
- Throwing Knives: Some Zolders carried small knives that they could throw into the enemy.
- Bunker Buster Bombs: The Zolders aiding Golden Mask used these devastating explosives to penetrate the Kanto EAGLE Base.
- Spear Guns: Some Zolders could use harpoon guns to try to impale the Gorangers.
- Flamethrowers: Sun Halo Mask's Zolders used flamethrowers to try and cook the Gorangers but they dodged.
- Condolers: The Zolders' signature weapons were these jet fighter-like craft that were equipped with machine guns.
