The Eroder is a minor antagonist in Final Fantasy XV, serving as the main antagonist of the DLC crossover sidequest "Close Encounter of the Terra Kind". It is a malevolent shapeshifter that terrorizes the world of the Hiso Aliens.
When taking the form of Sarah, it was voiced by Sumire Uesaka in Japanese and Ashly Burch in English.
Appearance
While mimicking a Hiso Alien, the Eroder's only changed aspect is its face, which is featureless except for two black glaring eyes. While mimicking Sarah, the Eroder wears a completely black dress instead of a light silver, has white hair instead of brunette, black eyes with gray pupils, and has a black flower in its hair with red anthers.
Biography
Little is known about the Eroder's origins other than it suddenly appeared one day on the world of the Hiso Aliens and proceeded to erode their world. The Hiso Aliens managed to seal the entity away within the depths of their ruins behind a great barrier, but it proved too weak. Fearing that the Eroder would proceed to destroy all worlds once it completely eroded theirs, the elder of the Hiso Aliens relied on the Great Tree to summon two powerful warriors from other worlds to aid them in stopping the Eroder, being Noctis and Sarah. The two agree to help them and set off to stop the monster.
Through their journey, Noctis and Sarah encounter plants and statues suddenly coming to life, as well as walls emerging from the ground, likely caused by the Eroder trying to prevent them from interfering. Regardless, the two push through the obstacles towards the center of the Hiso Aliens' ruins, a coliseum. In the coliseum, Noctis spots a lone Hiso Alien and approaches. The Hiso Alien turns around, revealed to be the Eroder having taken its form to lure them in. It lunges at Noctis, but Sarah pushes him out of the way and is struck instead.
Upon getting back on their feet, Noctis and Sarah discover that the Eroder took the form of Sarah, having copied both her powers and appearance. With its newfound powers, the Eroder boasts itself as a god that seeks to erase the worlds and recreate them in its own twisted images. Noctis and Sarah proceed to battle the entity, ultimately defeating the Eroder and it withers away. With their duty complete, Noctis and Sarah bid farewell and return to their worlds.

Trivia
- In Sarah's form, the Eroder has the same voice actress as the regular Sarah in all languages, although her voice is distorted with a mechanical reverb to sound more sinister.
- When the Eroder enters its second phase, Sarah comments that its power was like a ghost, and Noctis replies "not the friendly kind", a reference to Casper, the Friendly Ghost.
