Scaldera, also known as the Pyroclastic Fiend, is a supporting antagonist in the 2011 action-adventure video game The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, the sixteenth main installment in The Legend of Zelda series.
It is a monster lurking within the Earth Temple that is summoned by Ghirahim to torture Link to death for his amusement.
Biography
Nothing is known about Scaldera's past, other than that it is a fiery monster that lives in the deepest part of the Earth Temple.
Link (unknowingly) first encounters Scaldera when it takes the form of a boulder and nearly crushes him after he grabs the Dragon Sculpture. After passing through the boss door, Link sees the "boulder" rolling through the stomach of a dragon statue.
Ghirahim appears, frustrated after losing track of Zelda due to Impa's interference. Seeking to relieve his anger, Ghirahim summons Scaldera to torture Link to death for entertainment.
Scaldera attempts to charge at Link and suck him up before blasting fireballs at him. Link can throw a bomb into its mouth, stunning it and allowing him to slash at its eye. After doing this enough times, Scaldera's boulder shell shatters, allowing to continuously slash at it until it dies.
