Koloktos, also known as the Ancient Automaton, is a major antagonist in the 2011 action-adventure game The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
It is a mechanical being created centuries ago to guard the Ancient Cistern against any intruders. However, after being defeated by Ghirahim, Koloktos is possessed and becomes fixated on trying to kill Link.
Biography
Past
Koloktos was created in ancient times to guard the Ancient Cistern, a shrine to the gods in Lake Floria that also acted as a water filtration plant to get rid of Demise's Malice polluting the area's water.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
The Ancient Cistern is broken into by Ghirahim, Demise's servant who seeks to revive his master. Koloktos attempts to fight off Ghirahim but is defeated, leading Ghirahim to infect it with dark magic.
When Link arrives at the top of the Ancient Cistern, an annoyed Ghirahim uses his powers to rebuild Koloktos and direct its wrath towards Link before disappearing. Koloktos attempts to kill Link in a brutal battle, during which Link tears off its limbs and uses its large swords to break open its chest and stab its heart. Eventually, Koloktos is defeated, but as it dies, it lets out an unnerving, high-pitched giggle.
