Raiga Kurosuki (in Japanese: 黒鋤雷牙, Kurosuki Raiga) is a minor antagonist from Naruto. He was first seen in the anime exclusive Kurosaki Family Removal arc and later made canon in the manga.
He was voiced by the late Keiji Fujiwara in the Japanese version, and by Roger Craig Smith in the English dubbed version.
Biography
Sometime before the story, Raiga took up the twin pointed swords Kiba and became a member of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, yet despised them. After the Third Shinobi World War, he and his goons ambushed Might Guy, Ebisu and Genma Shiranui and seemed to corner them until Might Duy heroically sacrificed himself with Eight Gates Released Formation, beating Raiga.
In the anime, it was extended so that the action cost the lives of four members of Raiga's group. Years after the incident, he would work as ANBU for his village search for a spy in Kirigakure. Raiga met with Ranmaru, who would become his additional eyes and ears in exchange for protection. Ranmaru was the only boy who Raiga cared about. Sometime after leaving his village, he enslaved a mining town and formed the Kurosuki Family, including with Karashi. If their enforced laws were broken, the "accused" would be buried alive.
In the present, Raiga is first seen giving a crocodile-tearful funeral for one of his victims. When he found out Rokusuke had warned Konoha of his misdeeds, Raiga tries to bury him alive until Naruto's team saves him. He also spotted Karashi having a friendly meeting with Rock Lee. When Naruto began to question him about Kisame Hoshigaki and Zabuza Momochi, he stated that he hated those two and the rest of the Seven Swordsmen. In the chaos, Raiga confuses them with the Hiding in Mist Technique, but Rock Lee fought whilst unconscious. After one of Raiga's bag concealing Ranmaru is knocked off, he is seemingly defeated by Naruto's Rasengan.
Karashi later leads Ranmaru to Raiga's site and revives him. Raiga easily beats Tenten then demands that Karashi bring Naruto and his party to him, lest he and his mother die. The lightning swordsman continues to dominate using a thunderstorm until Tenten and Karashi fed Naruto's group the Curry of Life. Ranmaru then tells his caretaker that the enemy is dead and tries to lead him off a cliff. Rock Lee, drunken by his affected curry, strikes and is blown back by Raiga. The lightning swordsman blames Ranmaru for abandoning him and is soon blown off the cliff by Naruto.
In his final moments, Raiga calls for the lightning to give him a "funeral worth remembering" and it kills him instantly.
