She is voiced by Yui Ishikawa in the Japanese version, and by Cassandra Morris in the English version.
Personality
Due to the extreme mistreatment Nanashi suffered at the hands of her own clan, treating her only as a weapon for war and never once knowing her real name, she developed deep hatred for the her clan, the shinobi world and reality itself, as a result of this she eagerly accepted Merz request to join the organization Zero and bring chaos to the shinobi world.
When Nanashi was acting as the guide for the game Ninja Hereos, she acted more robotic and unnatural using systematic words towards others, that is save for Boruto Uzumaki who she seemed to talk more human towards him as he frequently refers to her as a friend. Other than that when asked about anything about the game she will simply say to read manuals repeatedly (in the case of Boruto). Though she later drop this facade after Boruto group manages to figure her out as a Zero supporter, to which Nanashi does admit that following what Teguse had told her to be polite in the game did annoy her but to accomplish her goal she had to go with it.
Her interactions upon meeting Boruto in the game had gradually started to change her, as she started having conflicted feelings, but yet still annoyed at him for being way too persistent, although him calling her a friend did actually make her happy inside since she never experienced those feelings before in her entire life. While initially only a guide in the game, Boruto did truly want to become her friend. However this proved hard for Nanashi to accept as she couldn't let go of her hatred of shinobi and the Ninja world.
Upon meeting Boruto in Zero hideout in the real world, Nanashi does tell him that he is annoying both in-game and out, she tells him to leave her alone, but Boruto refuses too, Nanashi then began suffering from great emotional turmoil over her feelings of hate against her feelings of joy regarding Boruto, but still went ahead with her plans, but she couldn't bring herself to kill Boruto in the end, as she subconsciously wished to keep Boruto safe from her own plans. Even when fighting him, she started to shed tears and begging for Boruto to stay away, but Boruto was determined till the end to save her from her hatred, in the end she ultimately gave in, and gave Boruto the last remaining of her chakra, granting him Yachihoko to defeat Merz however at the cost of her own life.
Powers and Abilities
Hikari is very immensely powerful by her own clan, to the point that she was imprisoned and used as a weapon. In fact because of her powers the Sarutobi and the Senju clan has sealed her in the Warring States Period. When she confronted Team 7 in Ninja Heroes she overwhelmed all three of them with ease, despite all three of them are exceptionally powerful shinobi. Because of Hikari immense chakra reserves, Teguse had to secretly implant Forbidden Individual Curse Tag hair-pin device that when activated, Hikari's chakra was fully unleashed to the point it manifested visibly.
Ninjutsu
Just like the rest of the Uchiha clan, Hikari is proficient in the use of Fire Release chakra nature, Born and raised in the Warring States Era, Hikari was able to use complex nature transformation jutsu at a young age, including the Uchiha's rite of passage technique - Fire Release: Great Fire Ball Jutsu as well as Great Fire Dragon Jutsu, Dragon Flame Loud Singing Jutsu, and Great Fire Annihilation, which is said to be the pinnacle of the Uchiha Clan Fire Release. Hikari was a prodigy in performing the Fire Release.
Dōjutsu
Sharingan
Hikari has also awakened her fully matured Sharingan despite her youth, she excels in genjutsu and have immense skills in it, shown when she easily manipulated the surrounding area around her to her own liking in Ninja Heroes and even comparing herself to a wizard.
Mangekyō Sharingan
Hikari has also awakened her Mangekyō Sharingan, a feat at this point has been only achieved by only Madara and his brother Izuna. The Uchiha clan implanted both Tsukuyomi and Amaterasu into her eyes. She was also able to utilize the unique Engraved Tsukuyomi through her Mangekyō Sharingan as well. While she was skilled in the use of Amaterasu it did take a toll on her eyes. Hikari was able to manipulate the shape of the black flames to surround a target in a vortex which is very similar to Sasuke Uchiha Blaze Release. The most unique aspect of Hikari Mangekyō Sharingan is the use of Yachihoko a very powerful genjutsu that is impossible to counter. Yachihoko allowed Hikari to easily manipulate the memories of others by erasing them and implanting fake ones, not even a powerful Jinchuriki such as Naruto was able to counter this technique. Additionally, it gave her full access to their chakra, allowing her to transport it as needed. She can also use Yachihoko to transfer chakra to another individual, granting them immense chakra.
Biography
Past
Born "Hikari Uchiha", her parent wanted her to live a normal life in the morning light. However it was short lived, as her parents were killed at some point during the Warring States Period, leaving her an orphan. At that time, the Uchiha clan discovered Hikari's ability of the Yachihoko, a unique Mangekyo Sharingan visual jutsu that controls others by erasing and implanting their memories with powerful ones in their minds. Thus, the Uchiha had given her the name "Nanashi" to signify her role as a weapon and enforces her to copy other visual jutsu to multiply the effects in order to take advantage against the other clans. For years, Nanashi was locked away by her own clan, and had always being mistreated as though she was never viewed as a human being.
Nanashi's power overcome the Senju clan making her a dangerous adversary, but with the help of the Sarutobi clan, they managed to defeat Nanashi and sealed her away in a scroll. As they buried Nanashi in a nameless sealed location, she begins to hate everything related to the Ninja World and intends to one day vow to eradicate the world out of revenge for everything she felt mistreated.
Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections
Having remained sealed away throughout her life in the Shinobi World Wars, she was finally released from her seal in the modern era by the members of Zero: Merz and Teguse. Noticing Nanashi's hatred for the Ninja World, Merz manipulated and promises Nanashi that she will have her revenge by turning the world into chaos, and Nanashi, who was already filled with hatred, accepted his offer and began to work with Zero.
While working under Zero, Nanashi created her personal Genjutsu World disguised as video game called "Ninja Heroes", and appeared under the false identity as an AI guide and navigator to those who have entered her Genjutsu World disguised as a virtual game world so that they can collect the Kiseki scattered throughout her world, utilizing the Engraved Tsukuyomi to place the entire Ninja Work under her mark, and then uses Yachihoko to erase the memories of almost everyone affected in order to prepare for the Fifth Shinobi World War.
However, at that time, Nanashi met Boruto Uzumaki, whom she saw his true appearance from under the avatar of his father Naruto Uzumaki's teenage years. At first they didn't get along well, as Nanashi found Boruto to be vexing. But regardless, she humored him, and helped Boruto throughout her genjutsu world. As she continue to spend more time with Boruto while in her Genjutsu World, she slowly began to realize what kind of person Boruto was, and as he started calling Nanashi a "friend", this makes her feel more nice and happy to hear it, something that she never experienced from when she used to be treated by the Uchiha clan.
After Boruto and the others had enough proof that Nanashi was connected to Zero, and it's relation to her disguised Genjutsu World. Nanashi was confronted by Boruto and Team 7 in her Genjutsu World, and having been realized she was being caught, Nanashi revealed her true appearance and fought Team 7. Despite having been fought off her opponents, Nanashi returned to Zero, and no longer wished to monitor her Genjutsu World any longer.
After the effects of Yachihoko has been worn off with Toneri Ōtsutsuki's help, Nanashi was confronted by Boruto in Zero's hideout. Too desperate to realizing her dreams, she fought against Boruto, who managed to break through Nanashi, and appeals that there is still good within her heart, thus she realized that she does truly cared for Boruto and Nanashi finally surrenders. Because her experience with Boruto has softened her hatred, Merz and Teguse forces her with their control device on her head, forcing her to fight Boruto at full power. As the controlled Nanashi attempted the killing blow on Boruto, he was save by the intervened Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha, the former having been freed by the effects of the Yachihoko with the latter's help.
As Nanashi has become too weak and too softened by her experience with Boruto, Merz decided to hand Nanashi over to Boruto by kicking her into the air for Boruto to grab her on time, having outlived her usefulness as a result and began to fight Naruto and Sasuke. Nanashi, with her remaining strength, uses Yachihoko to give Boruto all of her remaining chakra that she gathered during her time in her Genjutsu World, allowing Boruto to fight alongside his father and teacher and defeat Merz and his Complete Body: Susanoo.
Although still unable to forget the past, but nonetheless finally happy that her lively experience with Boruto was the only time she truly feels satisfied, Nanashi dies peacefully in Boruto's arms, imparting on him a Kiseki that had their combined memories and chakra.
History Altered
However, Nanashi's history and life has been completely altered when Boruto travelled back in time to the Warring States Period with the help of Toneri, in order to rescue her from the captivity of the Uchiha clan. Seeing Boruto fighting against her clan makes her able to fight alongside him too, getting her to safety and finally earning her freedom with his help. Nanashi later learns her true name from Boruto, and was able to live a normal happy life away from war, spending the rest of her life in gratitude to Boruto, even leaving an anecdote behind sharing how much he changed her life for the better.
