Evolu Cell

The Evolu Cell (エボリュウ細胞, Eboryū Saibō)[1] is the DNA sample of extraterrestrial origin from Ultraman Tiga, best known for its unusual property of being able to spontaneously modify the DNA of other organisms through inducing mutations.

History

Pre-Ultraman Tiga

The Evolu Cells were discovered in year 2004 from a meteorite, a year prior to the official establishment of TPC. NSDA's D Organization launched the Genius Project as part of their long term plan of planetary exploration, centering around the study of Evolu Cells in hopes of enhancing an astronaut's body to survive the harsh conditions of outer space. As TPC was founded later on, the Genius Project then collaborated with the former under its Space Development Center.[1]

Ultraman Tiga

The chief of Genius Project, Ryosuke Sanada, experimented with the Evolu Cells through various animals under his captivity. He eventually transplanted the cells into his body when his inferiority complex got the best him. Three months later, Ryosuke begins to suffer from the mutagenic effects of the cells as he shifted into Evolu back and forth, going as far as to go in a hiding to avoid TPC's pursuit. By the time Ryosuke revealed his condition to Sayaka and Horii, the mutation took as he was regressed into a rampaging monster until it drained most of its energies from fighting against Ultraman Tiga. Requiem to the Darkness

After Ryosuke's misuse of the Evolu Cells came to light, the Genius Project went frozen and some of the remaining cells were taken care of by TPC officers. At the very least, this was the news relayed to TPC's intelligence bureau.[1]

Approximately in the year 2010, the monkey that became Ryosuke's test subject escaped to feed on electricity and subsequently nutated into the monster known as Metamorga, obtaining sentience to deliver a limited form of speech. The Evolu Cells in its body allowed the primate monster to escape its icy prison, but at the same time risks itself into a massive detonation. Through the momentary help of Evolu's ghost, Tiga was able to bring Metamorga away from Earth for a safer detonation. Goodbye to Darkness Eventually it was discovered that NSDA's D Organization continued the study on Evolu Cells in secret, and in response the organization was officially disbanded due to their dangerous actions.[1]

Ultraman Dyna

As revealed in the year 2019, leftovers of Evolu Cells were stored in the Genetic Engineering Research Institute.[1] Wanting to avenge Dr. Otomo's death, Yamazaki stole the cells and modify them to mutate mankind into monsters through a warhead fired from one of TPC's abandoned base in an asteroid. When Asuka and Kenji infiltrated the base, Yamazaki initially used the cells to empower the Zomborg Soldiers as his troops before he transform into Zomborg with a portion of the cells. Ultraman Dyna manages to destroy Zomborg and stops the warhead from appporaching Earth through Revolium Wave, presumably disposing what was left of Evolu Cells away from mankind's usage. Powers

  • Mutation Agent: The Evolu Cells are capable of mutating a host life form through direct transplant into their bodies. Initially the subject has limited control of their actions to transform into monsters until they give in to the cell's influence.
    • Size Change: Through the mutation, the host life form are able to grow larger to the size of an average monster.
  • Electricity Consumption: Victims of the cells display the need to consume large voltages of electricity as a form of sustenance and empowerment. This trait is absent in Yamazaki's modified samples of the Evolu Cells.
  • Energy Fuel: At least through Yamazaki's Zomborg soldiers, the Evolu Cells can act as a form of power source.

Trivia

  • The name Evolu is addressed by the researchers of Genius Project, with TPC's Intelligence Bureau likewise designate Ryosuke's monster form with this name.[1] The actual name and origin to this cells remain unknown even to this day.
