Auto Intelligence

Auto Intelligence (オートインテリジェンス, Ōto Interijensu) is a type of program that appears in the Gridman franchise.

History

Gridman the Hyper Agent

Auto Intelligence first appears as a program created by Takeshi Todo, one which he specifically integrated into the Kaiju Shinobilar. This provided the monster with the ability of independent thinking and conversation, hence it also aided him in brainwashing the Human Creative School, the cram school where Naoto Sho's classmates went to, by sending evil thoughts and suggestions to corrupt the students down into the path of villainy. Gridman would defeat Shinobilar and undo the brainwashing effect on the entire cram school, but Shinobilar would be recreated twice later on, still having the Auto Intelligence program.

Gridman the Hyper Agent: The Demon King's Counterattack

Neo Kahn Digifer would create the Gunman Kaiju Mad Texas as part of his army, who inherited Shinobilar's Auto Intelligence function. SSSS.GRIDMAN NOVELIZATIONS

At some point prior to establishing Tsutsujidai, Alexis・Kerib and Akane Shinjo created the latter's clone, Black Akane, as a Kaiju and as a way to test the Auto Intelligence capabilities. The Kaiju was deactivated at some point before Kerib would resurrect her briefly after Mecha-Ghoulghilas's destruction in a bid to bring Akane back from her artist block. The Black Akane's gifted intellect meant that she would eventually befriending the Gridman Alliance after initially opposing them. ^{SSSS.GRIDMAN NOVELIZATIONS}

Creating her third Kaiju Anti, Akane implemented the Auto Intelligence function as a way of giving him sapience, as well as the ability to use his knowledge in combat. Aside from being able to pass off as a human boy, in Kaiju form, Anti had both the ability to strategize his attacks and deliver counterattacks against Gridman and his later forms. However the Auto Intelligence also provided Anti with learning through human interactions, eventually developing to the point where he was no longer a Kaiju (as Akane pointed out) and his eventual defection from his creators after being disowned and evolving into Gridknight.

Trivia

• Auto Intelligence is a function that applies only to Kaiju made by humans, due to their nature as artificial construct instead of naturally born ones like Anosillus and its relative. This means that they do not share animalistic tendencies displayed by other Kaiju created by humans, as they merely carry out the orders given by their creators (and in Akane's case, a living embodiment of her specific grudge).
• The term Auto Intelligence is closely similar to Artificial Intelligence (down to its initials), a terminology coined from 1956 referring to a machine's ability to learn and is also a popular genre in science fiction for machines to behave increasingly humanlike in mannerisms.
