Synopsis

Toriko delves into the various mysteries of Cutler Melk, including his unusual voice, and Komatsu uses his culinary skills to give Melk's apprentice a confidence boost!

Summary

The 1st told Toriko about the Amplifier Stone's origins and how it further helped him in taming the Scorpion Demon. He commented on how perfectly fit Ichiryu's description of Toriko was. Toriko on the other hand, told The 1st that he'd expected the rumors around Melk's taciturn personality to be true, but it was otherwise. The 1st replies that he's always been talkative, except that everyone ignores him because of his appearance. He just found the Stone recently. Toriko deduces it's his really quiet voice that led to all the trouble, including The 2nd's. Hearing that, The 1st asks how his daughter is managing the work… Meanwhile, Komatsu was still trying to encourage The 2nd, commending her on her own cutling, and saying that she needn't worry herself about imitating The 1st, as she's managing first-class knives herself. The 2nd started recalling what happened, saying she thought The 1st was out for mining like always, but never returned. Komatsu felt her discouragement and asked her if he can borrow her kitchen knives. Using the 2nd's hand-made knives, Komatsu prepared dinner.

The 1st boasts about his daughter's ingenuity, saying her skills equaled his when she was 15. He then tells Toriko about his important job that led him to the 6 years disappearance; Ichiryu requested that he make a knife capable of handling Acacia's Salad, Air. This can be his final knife, and needed a lot of Stardust and time, thus led him to retire, leaving the work to his daughter, and entrusting her as the 2nd. He confidently tells Toriko that he told her everything, to which Toriko replies she never heard with this really quiet voice. Yet, Toriko calmed him down by mentioning how well The 2nd is handling things. While dining on Komatsu's cooking, The 2nd complimented how good the food was. Komatsu finally reached her heart by mentioning how he couldn't have done it without her knives; Preserving the Lily Oyster's succinic acid, removing the Smoke Jellyfish's stink, peeling the squid's skin, and preparing lots of other impossible. "You've firmly protected the Melk Kitchen Knives' name."

The 1st then leads Toriko to the Stardust's location and Toriko takes what he came for and heads back to where Komatsu is. Toriko was happy to see that Komatsu did his job in returning The 2nd's confidence. He told them the whole story, relieving The 2nd about The 1st's well being. Toriko then hands her the Stardust and asks for their request to be completed. The 2nd takes out a Derous' fang saying she'll merge it with Komatsu's Knife which still seems alive, and won't take any money for it as she's indebted to Komatsu for clearing her heart's uneasiness. Toriko tells Komatsu that The 1st also praised the knife, telling Toriko that he'd found a great partner. Toriko inquires about the time it'll take to complete the knife as he's in a hurry for a certain ingredient, the Mellow Cola. Toriko is headed for the giant graveyard maze in the desert, Gourmet Pyramid, and mentions he'll need Zebra's help.
