Synopsis

Toriko and Komatsu are shocked by who they find waiting at the home of Cutler Melk, and the legendary Gourmet Hunter's brash nature quickly leads to a knife fight!

Summary

Toriko and Komatsu were shocked to hear that the one in front of them is the world's most famous sharpener, Melk; They thought he was too young for the job as his looks don't match the rumors. Melk invited them into the workshop with which Komatsu was astonished, seing all the unsharpened knives and equipment, saying it's like an amusement park for chefs. Taking in his surroundings, Toriko was also surprised to see knife-cut marks everywhere inside. Meanwhile, Komatsu was struck in awe in front of Melk's masterpiece, the Sentoku Knife, and reached out for it. Shouting, Melk warned Komatsu not to touch it, which surprised Komatsu into hitting his elbow on the knife's shelf, causing the knife to fall out of balance. Before the knife could hit Komatsu, Toriko saved him. To their surprise, the knife had cut deep into the floor, causing a cut mark like Toriko had seen all over the place.

Melk told Toriko that the raw material for that knife is a Warner Shark's tooth. Toriko provoked Melk by claiming Melk can never capture a Warner Shark except by getting his raw materials supplied by others, and further angered him by throwing his own technique, Knife, cutting through the ground. Melk gets enraged and challenges Toriko for a fight outside the workshop. Toriko deduces his provocation'd hit home and thus Melk got angry. Melk, using his Sentoku Knife, threw an air slicing attack to which Toriko responded with his own Knife. Toriko's knife was far stronger, passing Melk's attack and damaging the Sentoku Knife. Melk quickly sharpened the knife with his Grindstone Boots, but was thrown in the air, easily defeated by Toriko. Hearing Komatsu calling Toriko, Melk deduces it's the charismatic Heavenly King, Toriko. Toriko then asks him for a proper introduction. "Who are you? Where's the real Melk?"

Toriko knew that Melk was an imposter; Melk invited them through the back door of the workshop, while there was a huge front door that seems to fit an entrance only a giant man would use, just like the rumors say... Also, the stairs inside were huge, so as Melk Mountain's... And, Ichiryuu had told Toriko that Melk was friends with him, thus, Melk had to be at least older than the one they're facing. Melk told them the truth; The Melk they knew was his master, while he was the second generation, his successor, Melk the Second. Melk then asks who Komatsu is, and after hearing it, was amazed to know it's the chef who made the Century Soup.

Melk mentions that his master is currently mining for whetstone raw materials. Komatsu tells him that they've come for a request, and Melk, knowing the request, told Komatsu the knife'll be done in 3 years. Toriko then asks him about the Melk Stardust, to which Melk replies is the phantasmal stone capable of sharpening anything. Toriko was shocked knowing it's not an ingredient, but Melk replies that the golden powder it expels when sharpening can be used as seasoning. Toriko requests Komatsu's stone being made right away if he gets his hands on the whetstone, but Melk replies that it's impossible, as it's located in Heavy Hole from which Melk the First hasn't returned since six years in search for it. Toriko insists he'll bring Melk the First back together with the stone, but after some food. After roasting on some Sky Scum teriyaki and Tail Soup, Toriko heads off 30 kilometers north the mountain, where the gravitational force rivals that of Gourmet World's, the deepest cave in Human World, Heavy Hole. "Damn, that old man... He really prepared the ultimate training ground for me."
