Sour Stomach is a permanent Affliction unique to Misery Mode which occurs from Stage 2-4 of Misery. It permanently reduces the maximum calories the survivor can store in their body. Sour Stomach also disables both of the benefits from Cooking Skill level 5: you now have a chance of Food Poisoning when eating cooked or artificial food, as well as Risk of Intestinal Parasites when eating cooked predator meat again.
Effects
- Maximum Calories Stored reduced by 1000 (1500 maximum)
- Disables Cooking Skill level 5 perks "immunity to Food Poisoning" and "immunity to Intestinal Parasites" when eating non-raw food
- All Food Poisoning chances of food items are doubled. Safe food items with 0% Food Poisoning risk are still safe, though.
- The rate at which the Risk of Intestinal Parasites meter is filled after consuming predator meat is increased by 1.5. One piece gives 1% risk, two pieces 6%, three pieces 13% and so on.
Strategies
An effective way of combating Food Poisoning and Parasites Risk once this Affliction is acquired is to consume Cured Meat and Cured Fish from a Meat Curing Box. Meat consumed from Meat Curing Boxes does not decay and has no Risk of Intestinal Parasites, though the box will need to be topped off with large amounts of Salt to function.
