“Sphere of Influence”: Maiek works on the task force assisting with the activation of the Iconian gateway. He is among the task force members who are skeptical about the wisdom of activating the gateway, and approves of Captain Shon and the player's plan to plant spatial charges at the base of the gateway in order to avert a potential disaster. He is later killed during experiments by the Solanae, who replaced his blood with a liquid polymer.

Maiek's death in “Sphere of Influence” involving blood being replaced with a liquid polymer is likely a reference to the death of Enterprise-D crew member Lt. Hagler. He died in the same manner in the episode "Schisms", to which "Sphere of Influence" could be considered an indirect sequel.
