- "What are you doing? You let them get away."
"It's too risky with the kids inside. Any idea where they're headed?"
"If I told you, you wouldn't believe me." - ―Kh'ymm and Kent
Kent was a human male who flew as an X-wing starfighter commander for the New Republic's Sector Patrol. Around 9 ABY, Kent and another pilot were dispatched to the Observatory Moon to arrest the pirate "Crimson Jack" after receiving a distress call from the astronomer Kh'ymm. Above the moon, Kent and the other pilot gave chase as their target and the children with him escaped aboard their starship but were unable to stop them without putting the children at risk.
The children later contacted Kh'ymm for aid when pirates took over their homeworld At Attin and she passed its location onto the New Republic. Kent then led a squadron to At Attin and defeated the pirates by destroying their frigate.
Biography
Desparate dispatch
- "Observatory moon, come in. This is Sector Patrol, inbound to your position."
- ―Kent tries to contact Kh'ymm

Kent was a human[1] male[2] who served in the New Republic's Starfighter Corps as an X-wing starfighter commander in Sector Patrol. During the New Republic Era[1] around 9 ABY,[3] the astronomer[4] Kh'ymm contacted the New Republic from her Observatory Moon to report the arrival of the pirate "Crimson Jack" with a group of children that she assumed he had kidnapped. The New Republic sent Kent and another pilot to arrest Crimson Jack, with Kh'ymm offering to stall him until they arrived.[1]
As they approached the Observatory Moon in a T-65B X-wing starfighter, Kent attempted to contact Kh'ymm over comms, informing her that they were inbound and asking for an update on Crimson Jack. The pirate, also known as Jod Na Nawood, overheard the message however and realized that the astronomer was stalling him, drawing a blaster pistol on her. Kh'ymm refused to call off the X-wings, and after her and Jack fought, the pirate and the children fled from the astronomer's telescopic array just as Kent and the other pilot[1] conducted a fly-by over the structure. The starfighters then began patrolling the area with search lights active.[5]
Chasing children
- "Crimson Jack, land this ship immediately—"
- ―Kent's message is cut off by Crimson Jack

At their starship,[1] the Onyx Cinder,[6] the children initially refused to board with Na Nawood, and the child KB amplified[1] her[5] voice to call over the New Republic patrol. However, before the X-wings arrived, Na Nawood convinced the children to board with him and told them that Kent and the other pilot were Kh'ymm's goons and would not help them. The New Republic pilots[1] then spotted the Onyx Cinder taking off and began pursuing it, firing warning shots at the vessel.[5]
Circling around the starship, Kent's fellow pilot contacted the vessel and ordered Crimson Jack to land immediately, although the pirate cut off the transmission before it finished. Na Nawood then had the children Wim and Fern man the Onyx Cinder's gun turrets and told them to just keep the New Republic pilots back, which they gleefully did by firing scattered shots at the X-wings.[1] The two fighters broke formation[5] and Kent's vessel[1] sustained a glancing blow, but they retaliated[5] with an ion shot that deactivated one of the Onyx Cinder's engines. Na Nawood then used the remaining engines to blow up moon dust behind them,[1] and the X-wings got lost in the cloud[5] as the Onyx Cinder then jumped to hyperspace.[1]

The New Republic pilots then returned to the array and landed, with smoke emerging from Kent's cockpit as it opened. Kh'ymm flew over to the commander's fighter and berated them for letting the Onyx Cinder get away, but Kent explained that stopping the vessel would have been too much of a risk with the children on board. They then asked where the ship would be headed, but Kh'ymm told the pilot that they would not believe the answer, as the children were trying to get home to At Attin, a planet widely considered to be a myth.[1]
Delayed saviors
- "Lock S-foils in attack position. We're going in."
"Setting shields double forward." - ―Kent and Cail-tan
The children were soon betrayed by Jack but eventually made it back to At Attin; however, the pirate accompanied them and took control of the planet, bringing a frigate full of pirates onto the world to oppress its citizens and control the Old Republic Mint located there. With the aid of her friends, KB managed to get a message to Kh'ymm asking for help and revealing At Attin's true location, which she passed on to the New Republic. Kent then led a squadron of X-wings and A/SF-01 B-wing starfighters to At Attin, entering the world's atmosphere after the Barrier that surrounded the world was deactivated.[7]

Flying down over the city being attacked by the pirate's frigate, Kent ordered the squadron to lock their S-foils in attack position, and after a response from the pilot Cail-tan and a Tarsunt squadron member, the X-wings strafed the top of the pirate vessel. The pirates on the ground began retreating to the frigate on dropships and engaged the New Republic fighters as they did so, but once the B-wings hit the frigate, the vessel slowly crashed to the ground, marking the defeat of the pirates.[7]
Personality and traits
Kent had light skin and was not willing to risk stopping the Onyx Cinder with the children inside.[1]
Equipment

Kent wore an orange flight suit with a gray flight harness and gloves. Their K-22995 light flight helmet was primarily gray with white on the lower portion of the two sides and along the mohawk strip, which had a black line down the center and at the end. A white New Republic starbird symbol decorated each side of the helmet's front in a red bordered section and the sides had a blue square at the base bordered in yellow.[1]
Along the top of at least one side Kent had five yellow victory decals. The commander flew a T-65B X-wing starfighter with blue markings and a yellow New Republic starbird crest on each side. The fighter had Aurebesh writing on the side including "LK68"[1] and was equipped with ion weaponry on its lower wing tips.[8]
Behind the scenes
Kent was portrayed by Andy Powers in the Disney+ live-action series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, first appearing in the third episode, "Very Interesting, As an Astrogation Problem,"[1] which aired on December 10, 2024.[9] The character's name is not spoken in the episode but was listed in the credits. Kent's astromech droid is inconsistently depicted with a different head shape in different shots, either bearing an R4 or R5 head.[1]

- ↑ Star Wars: Timelines dates the events of "Chapter 1: The Mandalorian" of The Mandalorian Season One to 9 ABY. In addition,
"A Certain Point of View" — Star Wars Insider 228 also dates "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" to nine years after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which corresponds to 9 ABY per Timelines. "Part Seven: Dreams and Madness" takes place after the conflict on Mandalore, which is the main event depicted in "Chapter 23: The Spies" and "Chapter 24: The Return," the final two episodes of The Mandalorian Season Three. Therefore, Seasons One through Three of The Mandalorian must all be set in 9 ABY as well.
SWCA 2022: 20 Highlights from Lucasfilm's Studio Showcase on StarWars.com (backup link) states that Star Wars: Skeleton Crew takes place in the same timeframe as The Mandalorian and Ahsoka—the latter of which can also be dated to 9 ABY following the reasoning here. As such, Skeleton Crew must take place around 9 ABY as well.
