- "Vice Admiral Rancit is convinced that the dissidents intend to attack the Imperial academy at Carida, martyring themselves in the process."
- ―Darth Vader informs Wilhuff Tarkin of Rancit's plan
Carida was a mountainous planet located in the Carida system within the Colonies region of the galaxy. During the Clone Wars, the Valor space station orbited the planet, while the era of the Galactic Empire saw Carida as home to an Imperial academy and a naval docking facility.
Description

Carida was a planet[9] located in the Carida system within the galaxy's Colonies.[1] Carida's two suns[3] shone down on mostly barren landscapes filled with mountains. The planet had an atmosphere breathable to oxygen-breathers, such as humans. The planet was also heavily populated with humans.[4] Small villages populated the rocky, mountainous areas.[3]
History
Age of the Republic

Carida supported the Military Creation Act before the Clone Wars.[10] Sometime later, a protest against the increasing militarization of the Galactic Republic was held at the Carida Academy. Cassian Jeron Andor's father was killed during the protest[11] according to the possibly false information in Cassian Jeron Andor's Alliance to Restore the Republic file.[12]
During the Clone Wars, Galactic Republic strategists held a conference aboard the Valor space station orbiting Carida. Through the efforts of D-Squad, the droid task force led by Colonel Meebur Gascon, Valor narrowly avoided destruction by an unmanned, rhydonium-filled cruiser which the Confederacy of Independent Systems intended to use as an unassuming bomb.[2]
Imperial Era
During the reign of the Galactic Empire, the Carida Academy was maintained on the planet. Former Republic naval officer Tabor Seitaron was among the staff there.[13] The academy was notorious for producing many superb officers, including Kendal Ozzel, Tian Karmiya, and Canonhaus.[3] Ryleel Imperial Base was also located on Carida.[6]
In 14 BBY,[14] the academy became a target for an attack by rebels. After stealing Moff Wilhuff Tarkin's personal corvette, the Carrion Spike, Berch Teller's rebel cell, secretly aided by Imperial Vice Admiral Dodd Rancit, planned to attack the Imperial facility. Meaning to betray his rebel allies, so as to claim glory among his Imperial peers, Rancit gathered a fleet above the planet and laid in wait for the Spike's arrival. Suspecting the vice admiral's treachery, the cell sent the corvette to Carida on auto-pilot and escaped. Upon his arrival in Carida space, the Sith Lord Darth Vader boarded Rancit's Secutor-class Star Destroyer Conquest and, revealing that Vice Admiral's plot had come to light, ordered that Rancit be ejected in an escape pod and shot down.[5]
An incident involving the Stinger Mantis crew, led by Jedi Knight Cal Kestis, occurred on Carida. The incident occurred when Klatooinian twins Koob and Lizz became hungry. During the incident, Kestis' life was saved by Gabs, a crew member. Gabs believed that Kestis owed her a starship for this.[15]
Shortly before the Battle of Hoth, Captain Tabor Seitaron of the Carida Academy was pulled back into active duty by Prelate Verge and his Imperial-class Star Destroyer Herald in an effort to hunt down Imperial defector Everi Chalis.[13]
Behind the scenes
Carida first appeared in Star Wars canon in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode "Point of No Return." The subtitles for that episode on the show's fifth season Blu-ray incorrectly spell the planet's name as "Corrida."[2]
