The fourteenth season of the American animated television series SpongeBob SquarePants, created by former marine biologist and animator Stephen Hillenburg, was announced on March 24, 2022 during Nickelodeon's upfront of the same year.[1][2]
It was originally confirmed that this season would consist of 26 half-hour episodes. However, on September 11, 2024, it was revealed that the second half of the season would be split off into season 15, thus being shortened to only 13 half-hour episodes. The reason for this split was "to keep sizes more consistent with the season lengths currently consumed on streaming services where all shows ultimately get added," according to Nickelodeon.[3] Despite the split, it still brought the total number of episodes up to 306, passing the 300-episode milestone.
Season 14 premiered on November 2, 2023 with "Single-Celled Defense" and ended on December 2, 2024 with "Sandy's Country Christmas." The season was released on DVD on November 19, 2024, 13 days before it completed its broadcast on television.
Production
This season is known to have been in production as early as November 2022.[4] At that time, things for the 25th anniversary and "Squidiot Box" were being made.
On August 3, 2023, Leo Laifa confirmed that they have officially joined the series' crew as a storyboard artist on that day.[5] They would provide storyboard plussing on the episode "Sheldon SquarePants."

- This season made SpongeBob SquarePants become the longest-running American animated children's television series, beating Arthur. It beat the record of Arthur after 25 years, 4 months, and 14 days on the air on May 1, 2024.
- This is the shortest season of SpongeBob SquarePants, spanning precisely one year and one month from start to finish during its television broadcast.
- Along with season 10, this season also took the shortest amount of time to be produced, with 294-296 being copyrighted in 2023, and 297-306 being copyrighted in 2024. However, 297-298 were completed in late 2023, despite being copyrighted in 2024.
- If counting the DVD debuts of "Snow Yellow" and "Sandy's Country Christmas" on the Another 100 Episodes DVD on October 15, 2024, this season has also taken the least amount of time to have all of its episodes officially released in some way, with it only taking 11 months and 13 days.
- Along with season 10, this season also took the shortest amount of time to be produced, with 294-296 being copyrighted in 2023, and 297-306 being copyrighted in 2024. However, 297-298 were completed in late 2023, despite being copyrighted in 2024.
- This season brought the number of episodes up to 306, being the first show in Nickelodeon history to surpass the 300-episode milestone.[19]

- "Buff for Puff" is the only Ian Vazquez episode segment in this season to credit the animation director.
- This is the final season that longtime crew member Peter Bennett worked on as an art director before his passing on May 17, 2024. The episode "Kreepaway Kamp" from this season is dedicated in his memory. However, this dedication card to Peter Bennett at the end of "Kreepaway Kamp" is not on any DVD releases.[22]
- Despite working on some season 15 episodes, this is the last full season that Peter Bennett worked on before his death.
- Despite this season getting split into season 15, episodes in both seasons still count to be in the fourteenth production season.[23]
- This is the fourth season to be released on DVD before completing its broadcast on television, after seasons 4, 5, and 12.
