Rolly is an animal who appears in the episode "Pet the Rock."
Description
Rolly was gray, spherical and stone-like as an egg. He grows bigger after consuming wet cement.
When hatched, he is a huge red theropod-like dinosaur with light orange fins on his back and tail, a tan colored stomach, and gray claws. On his head he has yellow ears, sharp teeth, and yellow eyes with black slit pupils.
Role in episode
Patrick wants a pet to take to the Pet Park, so he goes to a pet store with SpongeBob, where he buys Rolly. When Patrick tries to enter the Pet Park with Rolly on a leash, the guard refuses to let them in because Rolly is not a pet but a stone. Patrick throws Rolly to the guard to take a closer look, who unconsciously lets them in. While Patrick plays with Rolly, a geode collector named Percival Rockhound becomes interested in the stone, who decides to acquire it and crack it open. When Percival introduces himself to Patrick, he wraps Percival in the leash, thinking he wants to play with Rolly. Patrick says "that's enough play," so he untangles Rolly's leash, knocking out everyone in the park with Rolly.
At home, Patrick sits down to watch TV but accidentally pushes Rolly, who breaks everything. Patrick calls SpongeBob to ask why Rolly made a mess. Following SpongeBob's advice, Patrick feeds Rolly wet cement, causing him to grow bigger. Patrick takes Rolly for a walk, but he leads Rolly over a trash can, making him smell bad. He turns to SpongeBob for advice again, who suggests taking him to a groomer. At the groomer's, Patrick encounters Percival in disguise, who tries to crack open Rolly, but he rolls away. After they finish, Patrick takes Rolly to SpongeBob at the Bikini Bottom Pet Show. Patrick performs tricks with Rolly after entering him in the competition, but he rolls away, flattening the contestants. The judges name Rolly the winner in the absence of other contestants, but Percival arrives and takes Rolly away. He cracks open Rolly, revealing he was an egg all along. Rolly hatches from the egg into a giant dinosaur who swallows Percival and eventually Patrick too. The judges, however, were impressed with Rolly's new appearance and rewards him along with Patrick with the first-place ribbon.
