He has held a variety of jobs throughout the series, often changing between episodes, it's revealed in Sitcom Stars that he has some bosses: Mr. Rilla and Benjamin B. Nana. Cecil's interests include cooking, fishing, camping, junk, home repairs, and working on the family boat.

Cecil defends Patrick in front of an audience so that he can have the privacy he needs to pass his test. In "Driven to Drive," Cecil teaches Patrick how to drive, and in "Face/Off-Model," he helps fix Patrick's off-model face.
