Pat-Buck Star

Character

Pat-Buck Star^[1] is the 1830s counterpart of Patrick Star who appears in the episode "Dopey Dick." He is Captain SpongeHab's first mate and the only member of SpongeHab's crew along with Fishmael Tentacles who never switches sides to join the crew of Capn' A. Krabs and Planky.

Description

Much like his modern-day counterpart, he is a pink sea star with black eyebrows and purple eyelids. For clothing, he wears a dark blue beanie on top of his head with a blue scarf, blue stripe top, and dark blue pants with a little rip at the bottom.

Role in episode

After Fishmael Tentacles is denied a job at The Jelly Squirt Inn, Pat-Buck tells him that Ye Olde Pineapple is shipping out and they need jobs. Fishmael declines and tries to get away, but Pat-Buck catches him and brings him onto the ship. He proceeds to show Fishmael the ropes by tying him to a pole, and SpongeHab appears on the ship. He blows a bubblegum shape of Dopey Dick to tell the sailors about Dopey as they are hunting for him, which pops and splatters bubblegum all over Fishmael. When Dopey Dick is spotted while SpongeHab isn't paying attention, Pat-Buck and the other crew members help SpongeHab spot him. After Dopey Dick is captured and released by the crew, he is then captured by Capn' A. Krabs and Planky who refuse to release him. Planky uses a cannonball to send nematodes to destroy Ye Olde Pineapple, leaving Pat-Buck, SpongeHab, and Fishmael with only one pineapple slice. SpongeHab's crew sneaks onto Capn' A. Krabs' ship when Capn' A. Krabs' crew is sleeping, and they find Dopey Dick's jelly being placed into some jelly jars. They then release Dopey Dick, but Capn' A. Krabs and his crew notice SpongeHab and his crew release Dopey Dick. Dopey Dick saves SpongeHab, Pat-Buck, and Fishmael from Capn' A. Krabs' crew but then Dopey Dick destroys their ship after attempting to capture him again. In the end of the episode, they are all seen at the Jelly Squirt Inn while Dopey Dick is squirting jelly at patrons.

Trivia

Pat-Buck Star's name is a spoof of Starbuck from Herman Melville's novel, Moby-Dick. The difference is the "buck" bit in Starbuck's name was used in Pat-Buck's name.
- The character, Pat-Buck himself is a mix of Patrick and Starbuck.
The "buck" bit in his name was used in SpongeBuck SquarePants' name from "Pest of the West."
