Hyle

Hyle (ヒューレー, Hyle^?) is a character that appeared in Soulcalibur III's Chronicles of the Sword. He is a high-ranked officer of Halteese, but one that would defect to Maletta. Not only did he defect to Maletta, he also planned to take the Malettan throne for himself. Part of his motivation seems to come from his girlfriend Leelia, from which he named his weapons (Lilia sword and shield). After joining with the mysterious female assassin named Mooncalf, he was sent as the head of the assault team that struck at Epistema, Halteese's capital. He is successfully in taking Epistema and allows Mooncalf to finish off the Halteese royal family. Just as she finishes cleaning her blade, she's confronted by the cadet and is forced to retreat.

After being defeated as well, Hyle tried to delay the troops and buy time to let Mooncalf reach Demuth. But once he reached the capital Untide, he found Kierkess had discovered her and, through cold-blooded torture, also found out his secret plans for treason. After killing Mooncalf in cold blood without showing any remorse, Kierkess left Hyle and his remaining troops, alongside the dethroned Demuth, to die at the hands of Grandall.

Weapons

He uses the weapons common to the Gladiator style - Lilia

Sword & Shield Lilia is one of the more interesting weapons in terms of special effects: at the cost of having a weak pushback force, Lilia makes it almost impossible to have it's wielder's attacks countered, and having their well protected against ring-outs and throws.
