Veg-o-Bot

A hopping, horn-headed hostile

— Description, Sonic the Hedgehog Encyclo-speed-ia

The Veg-o-Bot[1][2] (ツノツノ[3] Tsuno-tsuno?) is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, vegetable-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance

The Veg-o-Bots are rather bizarre, rutabaga-looking Badniks with a pointy yellow forehead, a round orange body, and a pair of black eyes. They also have blue pincers with gray claws and a pair of wheels to move around with.

Overview

Veg-o-Bots make their only appearance in Sonic Chaos, where they can only be encountered in the higher sections of the Sleeping Egg Zone. They do not have proactive offenses as they simply drive inexorably forward and jump occasionally so the player will take damage by colliding with them. When landing above Monitors, they do multiple rapid jumps.

These Badniks are easily dispatched by a Spin Jump or Spin Attack. Like other Badniks in the 8-bit Sonic games, no Animals pop out of the Veg-o-Bots when they are destroyed.

Trivia

  • The Veg-o-Bot's Japanese name comes from "tsuno," which is Japanese for "horn."
  • The Veg-o-Bot's name is similar to that of the Veg-O-Fortress from Sonic Spinball.
