E-118, codenamed Tau, is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is the nineteenth unit in the E-100 Series robot group created by Dr. Eggman.
History
Shattered World Crisis
Act Two

During the Shattered World Crisis, Dr. Eggman sent E-118 Tau to the Thunder Plains Zone in Northamer to retrieve the Chaos Emerald that went off course and crash landed there. However, the Wolf Pack and three of the Freedom Fighters–Sonic the Hedgehog, Sally Acorn, and Bunnie D'Coolette–were able to stop Tau from reaching the emerald. Sonic and Lupe the Wolf then led Tau to the center of a thunderstorm where it was destroyed by a lightning bolt.[1]
Powers and abilities
E-118 Tau has a pair of arms that can shoot out lasers at will. It can also glide easily, with enough speed to keep up with Sonic the Hedgehog.
Trivia
- E-118 Tau's general design is derived from the traditional depiction of a flying saucer.
- E-118 Tau's obliteration is reminiscent of the Doomsday Pod's destruction in the episode "Cry of the Wolf" from the Sonic the Hedgehog animated series.
