Description

Bit is an antagonist in Mega Man X3, serving as a member of the Nightmare Police alongside Byte.

Dr. Doppler created Bit and Byte, who would protect Dopple Town as the Nightmare Police.[1] Bit in particular was built to be a smaller, speedier Reploid. During the events of Mega Man X3, Dr. Doppler formed a Maverick riot under the influence of Sigma, causing Bit and Byte to willingly become Mavericks sent to track down and capture X. Upon failing to do so, both members were given an upgrade, allowing Bit to fuse with Byte to become Godkarmachine O Inary.[2] The fusion however was not powerful enough to stop X, who took the Nightmare Police down for good in battle.

In Rockman / Mega Man X DiVE, Bit appears as a playable character, notably debuting in the Merry Christmas! event.

Trivia

  • Bit is the first instance of a playable boss character in the game, not counting characters who are major and/or main antagonists.
    • The second playable boss character is Magma Dragoon. Both Bit and Magma Dragoon first appeared as bosses in the game prior to becoming playable.
  • Bit's playable inclusion is a reference to his appearance in the Rockman X3 manga, where he manically yelled "Merry Christmas" when X was seemingly killed on Christmas Eve. This peculiar event in the story became a meme in the Mega Man community and even Japan, which is most likely the reason behind his status as a playable character.
    • This reference is played even further through both of his skins, which are Christmas-themed.
  • Bit is the only character to not have any voice lines, due to the fact he is not officially voice acted in any of his appearances.
  • As an oddity, the attack animation for Forward Slash does not appear to use Bit's purple saber, even though it is present in his character select animation.
  • Bit's Christmas skin is slightly different compared to his appearance as a boss in the Merry Christmas! event, where the skin's shoulders are recolored as opposed to being modified in his boss appearance.
