"Juno," stylized in all capital letters as "JUNO" when undistributed,[3] titled after her pet,[4][5] is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter and producer Remi Wolf.[4][5] Released on October 15th, 2021, the project acts as Remi's first ever LP or album.[4][5] Remi first mentioned the developing record in December of 2020.[6] She eventually revealed its title in August of the following year,[7] its release date, cover art, and pre-save URL were addressed just over a week later.[8]
Background
Remi had expressed her yearn for a debut to release in the near future proceeding her premiere EPs various times,[9] although it was not overtly evident she had begun writing for the project until late 2020. In an interview with DORK, Remi mentioned her dedication for conceiving an album she is fully secure with; "completely and utterly proud of," unlike her previous projects which she has since rather considered to be "random."[10] This confirmed Remi had since been working on a breakthrough project and her more exclusive attitude towards it, labeling it as something more diverse from her previous EPs. Remi proceeded to allude to her practicing the drums solely for the upcoming release on her Instagram within the same week.[11] Remi had later expanded on the idea of a more personalized project in another interview in August of the same year, stating she had more so been dabbling in rock, as well as figuring out what her next step should be in her own sound for the future production.[12] Otherwise from scattered arbitrary reference to the album in various interviews, Remi had yet to announce anything regarding the release of the arrangement. However, alas, around a year after its first few indications, Remi had premiered a formal announcement for her debut album. "Liquor Store" acts as the release's lead single,[13] published on July 20th of 2021. She addressed that the release was synonymous to "shedding a new skin" in her career of music.[14] With the vulnerable release, Remi had yet to announce any further detail regarding the album,[15] although it became apparent that its sound would indeed be diverse from her prior works. Just under three weeks later, on August 7th, although, Remi would inevitably and finally discern the title: "Juno", per her adopted French bulldog which had circumnavigated her experience of writing and recording the album, invariably accompanying her and affirming her always.[16] The cover art, pre-save link, release date, and a tease for future singles was announced by Remi just 9 days later on the 16th via her socials.[17] Not long after, Remi had fessed the tracklist for Juno with an eccentric introduction via a morph suit on her socials, only to reveal the proceeding jointly release of "Quiet On Set" an "Grumpy Old Man", the first dual singles to be released for Juno.[18]
The day after that, "Quiet On Set" and "Grumpy Old Man" were released as a dual single.
On August 5th, 2021, Remi announced the release of two more singles that week.[19] She later revealed one of the tracks, "Sexy Villain", with a image including some behind the scenes of the visualizer. Both songs released under "Guerrilla / Sexy Villain" as a dual single on September 8th, 2021.[20]
On May 13th, 2021, the release day of "Michael", Remi announced the upcoming release of the deluxe album, and that "Michael" was on it.[21]
