Black Bird (ブラックバード), also known as Harkestal, Arvey and Gelmes (ハーケスタル, アーヴィー, ゲルメズ), is the fifth boss from Raiden II.
Details
The Black Bird is an aerial battleship. The fight consists of three phases:
- On the first phase, the player fights a jet bomber as it starts taking flight. It has various pieces with guns which can be destroyed, as well as a central rotating gun which is the weak spot.
- After the jet bomber is destroyed, a smaller blue (yellowish-green in Raiden DX) ship will come out of it's wreckage. Like the first phase, it has destructible guns and wings as well as two guns which aim at the player.
- Destroying all parts of the blue ship will reveal and even smaller red ship. Unlike the other phases it has no destructible parts, attacking with it's two frontal guns and a central rotating gun.
