Description

Hiding is a mechanic within the game that lets players hide from incoming monsters, there's only one hiding spot within the entire game called "Lockers". Lockers come in three different forms, the grey/gray locker/normal locker is a regular hiding spot that can let players hide within them to survive from Monsters, the Fridge acts the same as the regular locker, just colored white, and the 3rd locker is a blue locker that cannot be hidden in, so if you encounter one of the monsters and are in a room with blue lockers, try to look for a grey usable locker instead.

Lockers will also have a heartbeat sound effect when entering, this heartbeat sound cue has very faint white noise, which may interfere with the static noise A-60 makes.

Appearance

Lockers can have 1 of 3 appearances, which are fridges, grey lockers, and blue lockers.

Grey/Normal Locker

The grey lockers appear to be a standard, generic, grey locker. It has a small window with 4 bars for you to see from the inside. For some odd reason the locker walls seem to be also the sides of the door. These lockers are your main hiding spot, being the most common variant there is.

Refrigerator/Fridge

The fridge is a reskin of the locker and is only found in the "break room". It shares many of the same features as a locker would, It has a small window with 4 bars for you to see from the inside, and the locker walls are also the sides of the door. The differences are the addition of a handle on the door and a freezer on top of the "fridge", also having a very unnoticeable frost particle.

Blue/Unusable locker

The blue lockers appear just like the grey locker. It features the same small window with 4 bars for you to see from the inside, and the sides of the door being its walls. However, these lockers cannot be entered, so if a Monster were to attack, locate the grey lockers amidst the blue ones and hide inside one of those instead.

Notes

  • When hiding inside a Locker, you'll snap inside of it. This is because the way they function is that they make you "sit down" inside it, which is why you exit it by pressing the space bar key, rather than just getting out with any other movement key.
    • The way the monsters actually chase you detects if you are sitting in a locker before actually proceeding to chase you. The lobby couch does not work.
  • Lockers cover up about 90% of your vision according to Nicorocks5555. [1]
  • Blue Lockers are only able to be found in one single room type.
    • This also goes for fridges, found in the kitchen.

Trivia

  • Nicorocks5555 confirmed that he was going to add a Locker Monster, however, it wasn't added in-game for unknown reasons.[2]
  • Using the knowledge in the section "Bugs & Glitches" below, you can stand on top of Ghosts who've reset and listen to other ghosts make that footstep noise.
  • The color for the grey lockers is called "Smoky grey" and has an RGB value of (91, 93, 105), and the color for the blue lockers is called "Sand blue" with an RGB value of (116, 134, 157).
  • The Roblox ID number for the heartbeat sound effect you hear when hiding is 3432074002.
  • The locker's filename is "locker"
    • It was previously a different noise which got deleted. Old footage of the game shows this previous sound.

Bugs & Glitches

  • It is possible to remain vulnerable for a while when getting inside a Locker. And it is because it takes time to "sit down".
    • This happens because of how Roblox's Netplay deals with players who will sit down.
      • When you sit down, your client waits for the server to confirm that you've sat down before you actually do, and because of this, a Locker may take a second, or longer, depending on how far you are in the rooms, for the Lockers to apply invulnerability. During this moment, you can be killed by A-60 or A-200's attack phases.
  • When leaving a Locker there is a 1-2 second cooldown before you can enter it again.
    • This is because the Roblox Engine applies a small cooldown to players when they "stand up". This is to avoid players from sitting down immediately after standing up. This only applies to the same seat, so you can switch to a different locker if you'd like.
  • If you are in a Locker while other people aren't in one and they're walking around, no matter what surface they are on it will sound like they are walking on metal even if they aren't.
    • This happens because the footstep sounds only account for the material that the player hearing the footsteps is standing on. So if you stand on top of the potted plant, everyone else will make grass footstep noises, even if they're not standing or walking on grass.
