Professor I. C. Biggy is a scientist living in a small desert valley about an hour away from Sweethaven.
Character history
Creation and development in Thimble Theatre
I. C. Biggy was created by Tom Sims and Doc Winner for the 1939 Thimble Theater daily comic strip, in the story titled "The Rainbird". He was also in a comic story by Bud Sagendorf in 1948 for the fifth issue of the comic book Popeye. He was featured in the second story, "Moon Goon!" or "Goon on the Moon!" or "The Man in the Moon Is a Goon!".
Biography
In "The Rainbird", Popeye and Wimpy accompany Dr. Biggy on an adventure thousands of miles away in search of a little bird that controls the weather.
In "Moon Goon!", Professor Biggy and his partner Professor I. M. Shorty designed and built the first rocket ship to ever reach the Moon. Unfortunately, they did not design it to return. The rocket only had enough fuel to fly two hundred forty thousand miles to the Moon, but they never told the two astronauts, Popeye and Wimpy, about that fact.
Biggy, as his partner calls him, does seem to have a sense of decency because he felt guilty for letting Popeye and Wimpy think he and Shorty would be going to the Moon with them.
