General Bunzo is a Thimble Theatre character created by E. C. Segar in 1931, the head of the armed forces in King Blozo's island nation. An ambitious, treacherous military leader, Bunzo sought Blozo's throne for himself in the storyline in which he was introduced, "The Great Rough-House War", but he promptly changed his mind upon being handed the crown (and the kingdom's many problems) by the King himself. General Bunzo would often clash with Popeye during the aforementioned war and afterwards, as he went on to make further appearances, such as in the comic book series from IDW Publishing, and in the Olive & Popeye strip since December 2023.
General Bunzo also appears as an enemy in the video game Popeye: Ijiwaru Majo Seahag no Maki.
