Z is a character in Alphablocks.

Z is voiced by David Holt.

Appearance

Z is green with silvery-white eyebrows and beard and wears a badge on the right side of his chest. Sometimes he sports a walking stick.

From Series 5 onwards, his badge and walking stick were removed for unknown reasons.

Prototypes

Some prototypes of Z include either having a different colour, no facial hair or beard, wearing pajamas, or a superhero like X. 3 of those concepts were merged into the Z we know and love today.

Personality

Z is an elder-like Alphablock who enjoys marching and can sleep almost anywhere. Judging by this, whenever he tries to continue doing an activity, he soon ends up sleeping. He is also rather assertive, for example, in the episode Zap, he can be easily distracted when there's loud noises. Z is shown to be empathic when digraph ZZ calls J and A after Y tells them that they need Z's back.

Trivia

• He seldom appears on the show because Z is the least frequent letter in the English language.
• Z used to wear a gold badge before series 5, but as of series 5, it vanished with no explanation.
• Along with Grey, his name would be pronounced differently if Alphablocks aired in America. While it's the spelling of the name for Grey, it's the pronunciation for Z. Z would be pronounced "Zee" instead of "Zed".
• He shares many similarities with Q.
  • They're both the oldest living Alphablocks.
  • They're both green.
  • They're both uncommon letters.
  • They both have something removed (Q’s wrinkles and Z’s badge).
• Just like T, he is voiced by David Holt and has a moustache. Unlike T however, he also has a beard and his mouth is visible at all times instead of just sometimes.
• He seems to have an irrational fear of word magic, as seen in Dots.
• If Z yapping along with the others in Zap without even waking up is an indication, he talks in his sleep.
• Z's favourite animal is a zebra.
