SCENE 1 | Elmo greets Maria and Gabi and wonders why they are carrying lots of things. Maria is about to tell him, but Gabi would rather have him guess. They have big bowls, a blanket, a chewed-up slipper, a big bone, and a big box of dog food. Elmo believes that they're getting a dog, but Maria corrects him - they're going to take care of someone's dog. Elmo asks if he can help them out (with permission from his mommy), but first he wants to guess which dog they'll be watching. |

Just then, Luis joins the family with one final clue: Barkley, whom they will be taking care of while Linda is out of town for the night. Luis has a difficult time getting Barkley to follow them into 123 Sesame Street, but Gabi calls him in sign language; the big dog ends up pouncing onto Luis on his way in. |

She tries again, showing him the signs for both “sit” and “stay,” and Maria is finally able to feed Barkley. Gabi helps again by using sign language to tell Barkley it's time to eat. |

Barkley fetches his brush, and Maria remembers that Linda brushes Barkley’s fur every night too. She wonders how they'll do it when Gabi gets the idea to brush Barkley’s fur while Maria brushes her hair. |
