Yosuke Ohtani (大谷洋介 "Ōtani Yōsuke") is a racer who participates in MFG. He drives a #7 Mercedes AMG GT S/GT R and is ranked 15th in Year 4.
Biography
Yosuke is a veteran of MFG and a recurring "Divine Fifteen" member, participating since Year 2. He was ranked 7th in Year 3.
During the season opener of Year 4, he is confident in competitiveness of his car and, more importantly, himself. He starts strong, finishing 4th in the Round 1, but performs worse in Round 2 and 3 and ultimately doesn't make it to final races of Round 4 and 5. During qualifiers for Round 5, Yosuke is concerned that his sponsors will leave him because if he will not make it to the final race for the second time.
MFG Year 4 Performance
Round 1
Yosuke is confident in himself during Round 1 preliminaries.[1] He qualifies in 4th place.
Right after the start of the final race, he immediately gets overtaken by Shun Aiba at the start of Lap 1. Yosuke told Aiba to not push himself too far because one bad call can sink the whole race. He feels like a serious competitor after three years because he learns everything by experience in the MFG. At the start of Sector 3 in Lap 2, Yosuke also gets overtaken by Kaito Akaba. He remains 6th in the race, but manages to gain a position due to Aiba overshooting the ninety-degree corner at the Higashi-Kazamatsuri intersection. Yosuke ultimately finishes 5th.
Round 2
Like other racers during Round 2 preliminaries, Yosuke is discouraged by record time Kouki Sawatari has set just the day before.[2] He qualifies in 9th place.
During the first lap of final race, while Ohtani struggles with traction and stability controls in his new car, he unexpectedly gets overtaken by Kanata.[3] He later gets overtaken by Shun in a top-speed race on the Ekiden straight.[4] Going quite slow due to the rain, he loses one more postion to Nozomi peforming a "one-car sandwich formation" on him and Yanagida.[5] He battles it out with Yanagida for the rest of the race, regaining two positions due to Daigo's crash and Fujin spinning out. He ultimately finishes 10th.
Round 3
During Round 3 preliminaries, Yosuke struggles to find an optimal pace due to the lack of a good goal time.[6] He ultimately qualifies in 15th place.
The night before the final race, he got drunk together with Jackson Taylor, which greatly impacted his performance.[7] Jackson qualified in 14th place, so during the race they battle it out off-screen. In the end, Yosuke finishes last.
Round 4
During Round 4 preliminaries, Ohtani is confident he can set a time close to course record set by Sawatari by utilising the potential of his GT R.[8] However, despite his efforts, he gets kicked out of "Divine Fifteen" by Emma Greene.
Round 5
While qualifying for Round 5, Ohtani is worried his sponsors will leave him if he doesn't make it into "Divine Fifteen" for the second time and tries to end the season on high note. Unfortunately for him, he once again misses the top-15, this time getting kicked out by Mai Sakurano.
