MF Ghost (MFゴースト "MF Gōsuto") is a Japanese legal street racing manga series written and illustrated by Shuichi Shigeno that ran from 2017 to 2025. The manga consists of 275 chapters compiled into 23 tankōbon volumes. The manga was serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine. It is the official sequel to Initial D.
On January 4, 2022, an anime adaption was announced and premiered from October 1st to December 18th, 2023. Following the airing of the Turn12, a second season was announced. Season 2 of the anime picked up right where the last season left off at, and aired from October 6th to December 22nd, 2024. A third season of the anime was later confirmed not long after the airing of Turn24, and will begin airing in 2026.
Story Arcs
For the sake of making the series easier to break down, the MF Ghost Wiki splits the series into 6 main arcs. These are defined as:
- Round 1 Qualification and Race Arc (Chapter 001 - Chapter 044, Volume 01 - mid Volume 04, Turn01 - Turn09)
- Round 2 Qualification and Race Arc (Chapter 045 - mid Chapter 092, mid Volume 04 - late Volume 08 , Turn10 - Mid Turn20)
- Round 3 Qualification and Race Arc (mid Chapter 092 - Chapter 142, late Volume 08 - Volume 12, Mid Turn20 - TBA)
- MFG Summer Break Arc (Chapter 142 - mid Chapter 157, Volume 13 - early Volume 14)
- Round 4 Qualification and Race Arc (mid Chapter 157 - Chapter 208, early Volume 14 - mid Volume 18)
- Round 5 Qualification and Race Arc (Chapter 209 - Chapter 275, mid Volume 18 - Volume 23)
Synopsis
In the year 202X, self-driving cars has replaced internal combustion cars for everyday use. An organization named MFG, formed by the mysterious Ryo Takahashi, organizes sanctioned street races for cars of any power. Hailing from the United Kingdom, a half-Japanese half-British individual named Kanata Rivington participates in the fourth year of MFG competitions under the name Kanata Katagiri, driving a unique Toyota 86 GT passed down by a former contestant. He came to Japan with one goal in mind: to search for his lost father.

Unlike author's previous works, MF Ghost is fully digital. He is using CLIP STUDIO PAINT and Mobile Studio Pro. [1]
