This article is about the NetNavi WoodMan.EXE. For his Robot Master counterpart, see Wood Man. For others, see Wood Man (disambiguation). |
WoodMan.EXE (ウッドマン.EXE Uddoman Eguze) is a NetNavi from the Mega Man Battle Network series operated by Sal.
Appearance
WoodMan.EXE takes his design from a tree like his Robot Master counterpart, but has a more golem-like appearance. His arms are now made of metal from the shoulders to the wrists and his eyes are black with yellow pupils.
WoodMan's Navi Mark is a tan background with brown swirly line, resembling a texture of a tree trunk.
Personality
WoodMan looks like a big tree and seems scary, but is actually quiet, kind, and gentle. He loves nature as much as his operator[1]. He will attack those who dare threaten nature or hurt Sal[2].
Game History
WoodMan is an optional boss in Mega Man Battle Network. Can be fought challenging Sal to a NetBattle in the Government Complex.
In Mega Man Battle Chip Challenge, he is one of the competitors in the Battle Chip GP.
In Mega Man Battle Network 4: Blue Moon, he participated in The Hawk Tournament and was tricked into attacking Cielo Castillo's network in an attempt to make people see "nature's wrath."
He also appears as a boss in Rockman.EXE Phantom of Network.
Other appearances
- WoodMan is one of the bosses from World 4 in Rockman Xover.
- WoodMan appeared in TEPPEN.
Rockman EXE 4.5 Real Operation

WoodMan is an unlockable playable character. His theme is a remix of his Robot Master's counterpart from Rockman 2: The Mystery of Dr. Wily.
He is somewhat difficult to operate him during battles as he jumps to move. He can increase his max HP by finding CyberSeeds on Golden Mystery Data and planting them in grass spots. He can also communicate with the wood stumps blocking the way on the Internet to make them disappear peacefully and thus open paths.
Anime History
Much like his video game counterpart, WoodMan serves as the NetNavi of Sal, with the additional details in that Sal is a Net Agent who goes under the name Black Rose and the two of them work together with fellow Net Agents Maysa (disguised as Commander Beef), SharkMan, Miyu (disguised as Mysteriyu), and SkullMan.
Abilities

- In Battle Network 1, WoodMan can shoot out seeds.
- WoodMan can shoot out seeds on multiple panels, which then turns into Wood Towers that homes on MegaMan.
- WoodMan shoots out a seed that plants a sapling, which then grows into a tree. If the tree is not destroyed, it will produce an apple, where WoodMan can then take it to restore his HP.
- Woody Tower (ウッディタワー Uddi Tawā) - Used in BN1. WoodMan summons a Wood Tower that travels down his row every time he moves.
- Death Forest (デスフォレスト Desu Foresuto) - WoodMan presses on the ground, causing panels to flash and multiple sets of Wood Towers to shoot out of them. In Phantom of Network, only 1 set will shoot out.
- Death Forest3 (デスフォレスト3 Desu Foresuto 3)[3] - An alternate attack in Phantom of Network where WoodMan pressing down will do 3 sets of Wood Towers in a row.
- Seed Shooter (タネデッポウ Tane Deppou) - Used in BN4 and EXE4.5. WoodMan fires 3 seeds down his row.
- Traffic Log (トラフィックログ Torafikku Rogu) - Used in BN4. WoodMan constantly summons logs that roll down two adjacent rows at the player. They can attacked to be slowed down and destroyed, as well as be obstructed by obstacles.

Trivia
- In the original Mega Man Battle Network, WoodMan was one of the first bosses made, as he is the main antagonist in an early development build.[4] His overworld and mugshot sprites still exist in the game’s data, as well as unused flinching sprites[5][6]. They remained unused in the series until they were recycled for Mega Man Battle Chip Challenge.
- Rockman.EXE Operate Shooting Star introduces a visual glitch not present in the original GBA version. When WoodMan jumps for his Death Forest attack, the wrong sprite is used and a tile of WoodMan’s head appears below him.
- If WoodMan’s Mega Man Battle Network 4: Blue Moon scenario minigame is played on the original Nintendo DS, after exiting a battle, the game will go into extremely low frames per second rate.[7] The frame rate will fix itself after MegaMan travels a bit to later sections of the map, until he goes into battle again. This bug also occurs in Red Sun if WoodMan is traded over via the Waiting Room feature. This bug does not occur if played on the Nintendo DS Lite and Virtual Console version.[8]
- In the original Mega Man Battle Network and Operate Shooting Star, WoodMan’s Battle Chips are the only chips in the W code.
