Nokis are one of several species native to Isle Delfino hailing from Noki Bay but live all across the isle. They first appear in Super Mario Sunshine.
Description
Nokis are small humanoid creatures whose torsos are covered by large spiral shells, similar to hermit crabs. When frightened, they can retract their limbs and head into this shell like a turtle. Nokis appear in Gelato Beach, Pinna Park, Sirena Beach, and their homeland, Noki Bay, where they are the sole and titular inhabitants.

Nokis wear vibrant seashells reminiscent of their time living in the coral reefs. They’re timid but highly intellectual.
In Mario Baseball series
In Mario Superstar Baseball and Mario Super Sluggers, Nokis are playable characters having the same appearance as a normal Noki except, They now wear Bows on their heads and there also female.
In Mario Kart 8 & Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Noki reappear in this game as background characters. They can be found on certain courses but mainly in Water Park.
Trivia
- Nokis are similar to the Shelltop from Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, but Shelltops wear their shells on their heads.
