A Candy Shop (also called Candy Store, Confectionery Store, or Confectionery Shop) is the Mario Party 8 version of the classic item shop from its predecessors. As its name implies, a Candy Shop sells candy to the players. Candy costs between 5 and 20 coins (or 25 for the Bitsize Candy --though the player gets 25 coins if Spear Guy or Holly Koopa buys their Bitsize Candy and this occurs on DK's Treetop Temple and Shy Guy's Perplex Express). (The Bitsize Candy is the only candy which can't be bought in candy shops.) And they can be purchased at anytime from the Candy Store. The Bowser and Bullet Candy are unique to only the board Bowser's Warped Orbit and can only be bought and/or found on the Candy Areas at just this one. The reason why they are hidden on just that board is because their effects are board specific. (The Bullet Candy transforms the player into a Bullet Bill, roll 3 Dice Blocks for a total of 3-30 spaces, and steal 1 star from each opponent they pass. The Bowser Candy transforms the player into Bowser, roll 2 Dice Blocks for a total of 2-20 spaces, and steal 2 stars from each opponent they pass.) On the last turn of each game, the candy store will be closed.
Trivia
- Occasionally, the Candy Shop has a 'Big Bargain Sale', where candy is cheaper than normal.
- If the player has less than 15 coins, two or all three of the candies offered may be identical, usually the Twice Candy.
- Having only 5 to 9 coins only results with having the Twice Candy. And it is the candy for all three choices.
- DK's Treetop Temple and Goomba's Booty Boardwalk are the only two boards to have all four colors of candy.
- Coincidentally, Red Candy is the only color that can be obtained at all boards.
- As a result, Twice Candy is the only candy which can be bought at all boards.
- The Thrice Candy is hidden in every board except for Bowser's Warped Orbit.
- As a result, Twice Candy is the only candy which can be bought at all boards.
- Yellow Candy can't be obtained at Bowser's Warped Orbit.
- Green Candy can't be obtained at Shy Guy's Perplex Express.
- Blue Candy can't be obtained at Koopa's Tycoon Town.
- As a special stipulation, Duelo Candies can't occur on that board. That is because it is due to the unorthodox method of collecting stars on the board. Players instead steal stars through hotel investment.
