Tsuruno Yui (由比鶴乃?) is one of the five main Magical Girls in Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka☆Magica Side Story.
In episode 13, after being fused with the Rumor of Chelation Land Ferris Wheel, she transforms into Uwasa Tsuruno (ウワサの鶴乃).
Bio
Appearance
Tsuruno Yui has light brown hair which is usually tied up into a side ponytail which is held up by a hair clip. She has orange eyes.
As a Magical Girl, she wears a orange crop top with white-trimmed flared sleeves under a white sleeveless crop top with yellow accents and 2 thin brown one-looped ribbons on the sides and very short orange skirt,she also wears a golden waist chain adorned with rubies with a piece of yellow-trimmed white fabric attached to the front and a pale orange loincloth composed of two enormous ribbons tied at the top to form a bow. She wears asymmetrical pieces of cloth around her wrists and ankles, and a pair of brown wedge sandals decorated with tiny bits of yellow. She wears dangling earrings on her ears with a long, orange, oval-shaped gem dangling from it. She also wears an odd-shaped flower hairpin on her hair which she ties into a ponytail. She uses matching orange, pointed, iron fans as her weapons.
As Uwasa Tsuruno, she wears the same outfit, but it now carries a bright jade-green color scheme with an intricate pattern on it. Her hair is now also a bright mint green shade while her eyes are now a dark pink.
Personality
Tsuruno is reckless, energetic, funny, friendly and caring girl. She has ambitions for her family's Chinese restaurant. When Iroha went into her restaurant and was surprised when Iroha said her food in there was normal, but later, it was known that she knows Iroha was right. Tsuruno loves her family deeply, especially her grandfather and great-grandfather, who led the Yui family to their former prosperity. She fights to become the strongest Magical Girl in order to restore the Yui name.
But under that strong and optimistic personality is an insecure feeling of helplessness and vulnerability as a result of Mel Anna's death. She forces herself to be cheerful and strong so people won't leave her like Yachiyo did and in fact, be an example to Magical Girls of Kamihama.
Etymology
Tsuruno (鶴乃?) means "from crane".
Yui (由比?): Yu (由?) means "cause" and i (比?) means "match" or "comparison".

Great-grandfather
Tsuruno's deceased great-grandfather founded the family's Chinese restaurant, Banbanzai. She cherishes the restaurant very much.
Grandfather
Tsuruno's deceased grandfather inherited Banbanzai and made it popular around Kamihama City.
Grandmother
Tsuruno's grandmother is only concerned for money. When Tsuruno made her wish, she and her daughter took the money away and ran on a private luxury cruise. Later, she wished to sell her father's and her own husband's keepsakes so as to use the money to purchase a car.
Father
The current owner of the family's restaurant. When he inherited it, its popularity began to decrease. He is shown to be really caring about his daughters in contrast to his wife.
Mother
Tsuruno's mother, much like Tsuruno's grandmother, is only concerned for money. When Tsuruno made her wish, she and her mother took the money away and ran on a private luxury cruise. Later, she wished to sell her grandfather's and her father's keepsakes so as to use the money to purchase a car.
Older sister
Tsuruno's older sister, who is studying abroad, originally with the intention of helping with the restaurant, but she has since found a dream of her own.

Abilities
- Tsuruno has the ability to bring good luck.
- She can cast fire with her iron fans.
Attacks
- Connect (コネクト?): A technique used by Magical Girls in Magia Record. By joining hands, the two Magical Girls can fuse their weapons to create a stronger variant of it. In episode 20, Yachiyo uses the attack to save Uwasa Tsuruno.
- Flame Waltz (炎扇斬舞?): An attack Tsuruno uses in episode 4 to kill Candy after Iroha uses Connect with her, transferring her power to Tsuruno.
Trivia
- Currently, Tsuruno is one of the four Magical Girls in the franchise to have a part of her name in her Witch form, Yuhong, the other three are Homura Akemi, Nemu Hiiragi and Ren Isuzu.
- In the anime, Tsuruno along with Iroha and Yachiyo are the only Magical Girls who are seen talking with their Doppels on-screen.
