Kuroe (黒江?) is one of the six main Magical Girls in the Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka☆Magica Side Story anime. She is a third-year middle schooler.
Bio
Appearance
Kuroe is a teenage girl with short black hair and purple irises. Kuroe is mostly seen wearing her school uniform, consisting of a white collared shirt, a red ribbon around her neck, and a black suspenders skirt with white stripes. She also styles her hair into two round buns using red/pink ribbons.
As a Magical Girl, Kuroe's outfit consists of a long black cloak with a hood and decorated with grey stripes, a sleeveless cropped top of the same which exposes her bellybutton, a double layered skirt, pink socks and black sandals. Kuroe also wears her Soul Gem around her right thigh. When in battle, she wields two identical purple scepters.
Personality
Kuroe is a girl who is afraid of fighting in life-or-death battles and wishes she could be saved from being a Magical Girl. Later, she reveals the desire to be as strong as Iroha and Yachiyo, two people she seems she wants to get closer with and earn their faith.
Etymology
Kuroe (黒江?): Kuro (黒?) means "black"[1], a reference to her theme color and e (江?) means "bay".[2]
Relationships
- Iroha Tamaki: Iroha and Kuroe knew each other from the beginning and usually fought Witches together. However, after witnessing Kuroe feeling like a weakling in contrast to Iroha's constantly developing power, Iroha started caring more about Kuroe but was emotionally hurt after seeing Kuroe turning into her Witch, Ichizo.
- Yachiyo Nanami: Yachiyo initially met Kuroe when she travelled to Kamihama City. Yachiyo doesn't trust Kuroe because she's a Black Feather at Wings of the Magius while Kuroe sees Yachiyo as someone far stronger than her but had a common goal, to save and help Iroha.
- Kuro: Kuro met Kuroe after saving her at Slave of Anima's Labyrinth. Kuro was nervous around Kuroe and Kuroe didn't specially seem to be interested in forming a bond with her. Instead, she lied about having no Grief Seeds left and dropped that girl. Later, Kuro started appearing in Kuroe's imagination to "haunt" her.

- Connect (コネクト?): A technique used by Magical Girls in Magia Record. By joining hands, the two Magical Girls can fuse their weapons to create a stronger variant of it.
Trivia
- The school Kuroe attends was never named. However, it has been stated that it's a religious school.
- Her weapon being twin batons is a reference to how she is a baton twirler at her school.
- It's unknown if Kuroe is her last name or first name.
