Jan Pospisil is a Czech illustrator often involved with Middle-earth, known as Merlkir on DeviantArt.
Pospisil began illustrating J.R.R Tolkien's world around 2000, and began freelance work in 2012. He has been working as an art director at Perun Creative since 2023.[1] He has painted or sketched many characters, weapons, and armor ideas, most often relating to Easterlings, Elves, Dwarves, Haradrim, and Variags. Among his chief influences are Angus McBride, John Howe, and Alan Lee.[2][3]

Some of Pospisil's art was commissioned for rule-books of The One Ring roleplaying game, First and Second editions. He also illustrated for Hobbit Tales from the Green Dragon (2013), a board game associated with The One Ring. Much else of Pospisil's art is used in "The Last Days of the Third Age", a total conversion mod for the 2010 computer RPG Mount and Blade: Warband by TaleWorlds Entertainment.[3]
