Lyna

Lyna Gallery

Princess Lyna of Borealis is a supporting character who appears in LoliRock. She is one of the founding members of The Resistance, alongside Izira and Carissa. She is the princess of the realm Borealis.

Her magic gem color is teal, and her motif is the fleur-de-lis. Her transformation item is a hairpin. A skilled spellcaster, Lyna favors levitation magic and spells over direct combat. She wields the Ring of Borealis, a magical chakram ring that she can resize at will.

Appearance

Lyna has olive skin, dark purple eyes, and dark red lips. She has long, side-swept, straight black hair down to her thighs. She wears a sleeveless teal and turquoise button-up dress with a navy blue collar and navy blue trim. She also wears a pair of navy blue knee-high heeled boots featuring teal heels with matching buckles. She wears a teal and gold hairpin shaped like a fleur-de-lis on the left side of her head.

After transforming, Lyna has long, pastel green hair that goes past her knees, and her lips turn a lighter shade of red. She wears a small necklace with a green gemstone. Her magic gem symbol is a gold hairpin with a teal fleur-de-lis on the right side of her head.

She wears a gold, green, and dark green dress with a green fleur-de-lis on her chest and a fleur-de-lis-shaped cutout in the center. The dress has a white underlayer with a green trim. A sheer, sparkly green mesh flows from her hips down to the floor, trimmed with gold fleurs-de-lis and a large fleur-de-lis cutout. Underneath her dress, she wears dark green short shorts. She also wears green and dark green heeled boots featuring gold soles and gold fleurs-de-lis charms on the side, along with layered gloves in gold, green, and dark green worn over a pair of longer white gloves that extend to her upper arms.

When dressed in her Resistance attire, Lyna appears in her magical dress form without the long sheer mesh, along with a short, hooded dark navy cloak layered over it. Her hair seems to be tucked into the cloak's hood or the cloak itself. The cloak is fastened at the front with a gold clasp featuring a green fleur-de-lis and a dark teal ribbon tied into a bow. Its underside is lined with gold trim along the hemline, while the back is adorned with a gold and green fleur-de-lis.

Personality

Lyna is a sensitive, sweet, graceful girl with remarkable courage and spellcasting skills. She takes great pride in her castle in Borealis and once admitted that she was accustomed to the luxuries of royal life. She had never imagined being in the mud and fighting alongside the Resistance. As a member of the Resistance against Gramorr, she is disciplined, strategic, and duty-driven.

Her magical abilities focus on levitation-based powers. Lyna’s refined and sophisticated nature often clashes with Carissa’s bold and impulsive personality, leading to frequent disagreements and moments of tension.

Although she is often seen bickering with Carissa, the two of them are actually best friends. [2]

Abilities and Equipment

  • Crystal Magic: As an Ephedian, Lyna can use powerful crystal-based magic.
  • Levitation Magic: Lyna is highly skilled in levitation spells, frequently using Crystal Levitus throughout the series to lift people and objects.
  • Flight: Lyna uses Borealian magic to cast a flight spell similar to the twins’ to fly.[3]
  • Potions: A talented brewmaster, Lyna is adept at creating potions, as demonstrated in the episodes "Wicked Red" and "Strawberry Fields for Never."
  • Ring of Borealis: Lyna wields the Ring of Borealis, a magical chakram ring she uses for offense and defense. She can magically alter its size.

Series

Lyna and Carissa made their first appearances in "Home Part I". They rescued Talia and Auriana from Gramorr's monsters before Lyna encased them in a crystal ball. Later, the two broke free from Lyna's spell and confronted their captors, although they only revealed that someone had sent them and was following orders. The mastermind behind this was revealed to be Izira.

Izira explained that she escaped the prison with the help of Lyna and Carissa. Together, they formed the resistance and made the castle of Xeris their base of operation.

Lyna is learning about human habitation and acting on Earth, determined to help the three princesses when in trouble. She and Carissa return to Ephedia in the Season 2 finale after all the Oracle Gems were returned to the crown.

Transformation Sequences

Lyna

Trivia

  • She likes Crystalflower tea.
  • Many fans mistook Lyna as "Brenda" before she made her official debut. This was because of the leaked episode titles for Season 2 and a photo of what appears to be Lyna. Team LoliRock later debunks that none of the new princesses were Brenda and that Brenda is actually a minor/background character.
  • She and Praxina are both voiced by Kelly Sheridan in the English dub.
  • Not counting Iris' Shanila form, Lyna is the only princess able to fly.
  • It is widely believed that Lyna's magic color is green, but the Team Lolirock Tumblr confirmed that it's actually teal, as Mephisto already had green as his color[4].
  • Jean-Louis’ inspiration for her was Sailor Neptune.[4]
    • Her transformation sequence was inspired by the “outer senshis” from Sailor Moon (mainly Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune). [5]
  • Lyna and Carissa were both originally intended to be “mature veteran princesses.”[4]
  • Lyna is the embodiment of delicacy. [6]
  • Lyna really loves violins and flutes. [7]
