Kyle

Kyle is a minor character who made his debut in the episode "Talia and Kyle Sitting In a Tree." He was introduced as a love interest for Talia. He recently moved to Sunny Bay and was shown around town by Missy before Talia caught his eye. Kyle quickly became friends with Nathaniel, and they are seen hanging out together. He is only seen in two episodes.

Appearance

Kyle has a dark brown buzz cut, greyish-blue eyes, and tan skin. He wears a white button-up shirt with rolled-up sleeves and a long-sleeved black top underneath. He wears baggy dark blue pants, grey and yellow shoes, and a red wristwatch.

Personality

Kyle is thoughtful, observant, and patient. The first time he saw Talia, she was reading a book, so he gave her a light to help her read at night. He is also intelligent and tech-savvy; he built a robot for a robotics competition and won. He is also shown to be kind and an animal lover, as he puts Amaru in his lap so he can watch LoliRock's rehearsal.

Series

Season 1

Kyle is first introduced in "Talia and Kyle Sitting In a Tree," walking into the smoothie bar with Missy. She was showing him around town because he had recently moved to Sunny Bay, and his mother asked her to. The moment he saw Talia, he developed an interest in her. He asked Nathaniel about her and was told about the band LoliRock, so he asked them if he could watch their rehearsal, but Talia quickly shut him down.

Later that afternoon, he calls LoliRock's phone to speak with Talia and invites her to a picnic, but she rejects him. He walks up to Talia outside their rehearsal and compliments her eyes by comparing them to "luminescent crystals," which makes Iris and Auriana suspicious of him. He also gave her a reading light as a gift so that she could read at night. He and Nathaniel appear at LoliRock's next rehearsal, and he tries to give Talia a sports drink, but Auriana knocks it out of her hand with magic. Somehow, the boys don't see or notice it. They stay for the rest of the rehearsal. He acts kindly by lifting Amaru to see and giving Nathaniel a piece of gum, but these actions are mistaken for sinister ones by Iris and Auriana.

At night, he goes to Aunt Ellen's House to drop off a bouquet for Talia and wish her good luck for LoliRock's gig. He takes that time to ask Talia for a picnic again, to which she says she'll think about it.

At LoliRock's gig, he is found by LoliRock, frozen in black crystal. After defeating Praxina and Mephisto with Iris and Auriana, Talia spells him out and catches him before he falls to the ground. They seat him in the concert's audience before he awakens, and he believes it was all a weird dream.

He heads to Aunt Ellen's house the next day to visit Talia. They walk out to the dock behind the house while holding hands.

Season 2

Kyle makes a second appearance in "Rex." He was competing in a robotics competition. He entered in the hopes of winning the prize of attending robot camp. When he runs into Talia and the girls, he proudly shows off his robot, E-Cube-88, or "88" for short. He is pleasantly surprised to discover that Talia is interested in robots and is impressed by her robot, Rex.

Kyle seemed disappointed since he believed he wouldn't win because he found Talia's robot, Rex, impressive and better than his, but he still complimented her robot and called it "amazing" and "perfect." Her robot won the painting contest, and he seemed deflated.

Suddenly, the power goes out at the robotics festival, so Kyle asks Talia to get a smoothie with him. Once he heard that the festival was locking up for the day, he excused himself to grab his robot but couldn't find it. He went to Talia to ask for help finding it and gave her a spare remote in case she did.

Later, he and Talia meet at the lake, where he discovers Rex had "malfunctioned" and dumped 88. He was shocked but relieved when his robot was okay. Kyle's robot ended up winning first place in the competition, but he was bummed and said he believed he only won since Talia's robot was disqualified. Despite this, he comforted Talia about her robot malfunctioning and told her she should be proud of her robot. He then took off his first-place medal and put it on her.

When she said she couldn't take it from him, he told her she was only holding it for him and could return it to him after he got home from robot camp at a nice dinner.

Trivia

• Rhonda Smiley wrote his episode.
• He says he finds Talia "weird in a good way."
• In Season 2, it is revealed that he is interested in robotics and created his own robot named E-Cube-88.
• He refers to his robot by "he" and "him" despite being an inanimate object.
• According to the official Lolirock Blog, "Talia and Kyle Sitting in a Tree" was one of the team's least favorite episodes to make due to being required to give each girl a love interest. Talia, however, was not originally written to have one, so Kyle was created. The team explained that he was rushed and that they were not ready to give Talia a boyfriend, making their relationship feel artificial and forced. In addition, they believed Mephisto and Praxina's plan was confusing in the episode. He was further elaborated on in Season 2 in the episode "Rex," but they did not have the opportunity to fix or develop his character much more than that. ^[2]
