Princess Carissa of Calix is a supporting character who appears in LoliRock. She is one of the founding members of The Resistance, alongside Izira and Lyna. She is the princess of the realm Calix.
Her magic gem color is purple, and her motif is a sparkling star. Her transformation item is an arm bracelet. A skilled warrior princess, Carissa excels in hand-to-hand combat and battle-oriented spells. She wields the Clubs of Calix, a pair of powerful clubs that enhance her fighting and magical abilities.
Appearance
Carissa has fair skin, bright blue eyes, and coral-pink lips. She has waist-length ginger hair, which she keeps tied in a loose French braid draped over her right shoulder and secured with a black hair tie. She wears a purple halter top with black stripes along the hemline, paired with light blue denim short shorts and brown fringe boots with a folded cuff. She wears a gold arm bracelet with a dark purple sparkling star on her upper left arm.
After transforming, Carissa has purple-pink lips and long, electric purple hair tied into a French braid secured with a gold clasp featuring purple sparkling stars. At each temple, she wears a gold hairpin with a dark purple sparkling star, and two strands of hair frame her face. Her magic gem symbol is a gold arm bracelet with a dark purple sparkling star on her upper left arm.
She wears a gold and purple dress with a dark purple star on her chest and a star-shaped cutout in the center, featuring white, puffy sleeves with purple trim and a white collar. The dress has a white underlayer with a purple trim. A sheer, sparkly purple mesh flows from her hips down to the floor, trimmed with gold stars and a large star cutout. Underneath her dress, she wears dark purple short shorts. She also wears purple and gold heeled ankle boots, dark purple thigh-high socks, and dark purple and gold gloves. When dressed in her Resistance attire, Carissa appears in her magical dress form without the long sheer mesh and a short, hooded dark navy cloak layered over it. The cloak is fastened at the front with a gold clasp featuring a dark purple sparkling star and a dark teal ribbon. Its underside is lined with gold trim along the hemline, while the back is adorned with a gold and purple sparkling star gem.
Personality
Carissa is a tomboyish, bold, fiery, and headstrong young girl who was trained in Calix to be a great warrior princess. She has a strong sense of honor and duty. Independent and fiercely loyal to Ephedia, she takes great pride in her realm. Carissa prefers hand-to-hand combat over spellcasting. She can sometimes be impulsive and stubborn, often charging into battle without hesitation. She doesn't have a lot of patience and prefers direct action.
Despite her tough and sometimes brash demeanor, she has a sweet and kind side, showing deep care for her friends and a willingness to protect them at all costs. She is also very supportive of her friends, as shown by her enthusiastically attending LoliRock’s concerts.
Although she is often seen bickering with Lyna, the two of them are actually best friends.[2]
Abilities and Equipment
- Crystal Magic: As an Ephedian, Lyna can use powerful crystal-based magic.
- Hand-to-Hand Combat: Carissa possesses hand-to-hand combat skills, presumably through her training in Calix. She prefers it over spellcasting.
- Spells: While not as skilled in magic as Lyna or Talia, Carissa specializes in battle-oriented spells, including ones capable of shattering rocks and launching enemies.
- Agility: Carissa demonstrates exceptional agility. She was able to roll and land gracefully on her feet after being dropped by Lyna’s Crystal Levitus spell and effortlessly leap from tree to tree while chasing after Talia and Auriana.
- Clubs of Calix: Carissa wields the Clubs of Calix, a pair of purple clubs she uses for offense and defense. She can also merge them to form a war hammer and use them to cast spells.
Series
Carissa and Lyna made their first appearance in "Home Part I," where they rescued Talia and Auriana on Ephedia from Gramorr's monsters and then captured them with a crystal bubble spell. However, the two princesses later broke free from Lyna’s spell. Carissa, along with Lyna, gives chase and uses her clubs to knock down Auriana. While Auriana pins Lyna, Carissa manages to restrain Talia. She reprimands Lyna for speaking to Auriana, calling it "insolent." When Auriana asks Carissa to let Talia go, Carissa firmly replies, "Sorry, I can't."
With Carissa letting her guard down, Talia pulls her to the ground and pins her. Talia questions Carissa’s motives and who sent her. Carissa hesitates to answer. It is revealed that they were sent by someone to capture the princesses, with Izira, Talia’s older sister, being the mastermind behind the mission. Carissa appears pleased to see Izira, who explains that she's the leader of The Resistance and welcomes Talia home.
In "Home Part II", Carissa and Lyna follow Izira and the princesses to Xeris. Izira explains that she escaped prison with the help of Carissa and Lyna. Together, they formed a resistance, making Xeris their base of operations. Carissa and Lyna frequently bicker whenever they are together. When Lyna remarks that Beldonflower tea smells like feet, Carissa immediately counters, insisting that it smells like courage, honor, and victory—just like her people in Calix. When Lyna jokingly suggests that all Calixians smell like feet, Carissa quickly loses her temper and lunges at her. Izira quickly intervenes, scolding them for fighting, and Lyna drops Carissa, who lands in a roll with a frustrated expression.
Carissa enters the Castle of Ephedia alongside the other princesses, using Lyna’s Crystal Levitus spell. During the battle against Gramorr, she showcases her combat skills and quick thinking by using a close-combat spell to save Talia and send Banes flying out of a castle window. Carissa teams up with Lyna to cast Crystal Differo against Gramorr. When the princesses realize Earth is in danger, they flee the castle together. Following Izira’s orders, Carissa and Lyna accompany the others to Earth and are instructed to follow Talia’s lead.
On Earth, Carissa joins the other princesses in casting Crystal Quinta to defeat the twins and their monster. She then assists in freeing the captured people from the Black Crystal using Crystal Solvenda. At the end of the episode, Carissa is in LoliRock's audience with Lyna, staring at the stage in awe. When Lyna wonders aloud if she’s dreaming, Carissa cheekily pinches Lyna and asks if that feels like a dream. The two quickly calm down as LoliRock begins their performance, captivated by the music.
Carissa and Lyna adjust well to life on Earth and actively join the other princesses against the twins once they are called into battle. She is a more combat-based character, as shown in many episodes.
In the Season 2 finale, she and Lyna return to Ephedia to have an impact on Iris' final fight with Gramorr.Gallery
