Smun is a male porcupine. He is the leader of a prickle of porcupines in the forest as well as a member of Makucha's army.
When the Lion Guard entered the forest in search of tuliza, Smun overheard their conversation and warned Mama Binturong that they wanted her tuliza. Per Mama Binturong's instructions, Smun stole Makini's bakora staff, which held the Lion Guard's supply of tuliza, and brought it to Mama Binturong's hideout. There, he attempted to defend Mama Binturong's tuliza hoard from Bunga, but the honey badger ruined it with his stench and stole back Makini's staff.
Later, Smun recruited several animals to join Mama Binturong's army at the Tree of Life. Along with his allies, Smun infiltrated and attacked the Tree of Life, but the army was defeated by Kion's Roar of the Elders.

Later, he stole Makini's bakora staff and retreated to his hideout along with Mama Binturong and his prickle. There, he attacked Bunga but was swiftly defeated. With help from Smun and his prickle, Mama Binturong brought in new allies for her army, including Fahari, Jiona, and two Komodo dragons. Ullu attempted to warn the Night Pride about the army, but Mama Binturong captured her and tasked Smun and his prickle with keeping her incapacitated. However, Ullu scared Smun by turning her head completely backward and took advantage of his shock to escape.

Ullu warned the Night Pride about the army's attack, and they rushed to the Tree of Life, only to be shut in by a giant rock pushed by Ora and his minions. With the Night Pride out of commission, the army attacked the animals at the Tree of Life. Shortly afterward, the Lion Guard arrived, having been warned by Ullu, and resolved to free the Night Pride from the army's trap.
Kion, Bunga, and Rani arrived, and Kion used the Roar of the Elders to defeat the villains. He then struck the rock at the Tree of Life's entrance with lightning, destroying it and freeing the Night Pride. Finally, Kion swept Smun and his allies into a tornado and sent them far from the Tree of Life.[2]
Physical appearance
Smun is a moderately sized porcupine. He has gray-tinted brown fur, with a pale underbelly, thick black eyebrows, whiskers, and a black nose. His quills are long, curved, and brown and white. His eyes are brown.[1]

Smun is clever, devious, and scheming. He works as Mama Binturong's spy and enforcer, and bolsters her reign of terror over the forest. Like the rest of his prickle, he worships Mama Binturong and does her every bidding, even if it means putting himself in danger. When Mama Binturong chose to leave the forest so she could get revenge on Bunga, Smun was heartbroken and proclaimed that the forest would not be the same without her.[1] He is adaptable, loyal, and resourceful, as he was able to recruit several new allies for Mama Binturong's army.[2]
