Furry Fish

Main Article

Furry Fish is forty-seventh episode from the first season of Krypto the Superdog.

Summary

Krypto and Streaky experience an undersea adventure at the ocean when red kryptonite, turns them into a fish.

Plot

Krypto and Streaky are patrolling seashore around Metropolis after hearing about mysterious disappearance of sand on beach. During the investigation (which is briefly interrupted by Streaky visiting a trash container), they discover a chunk of Red Kryptonite. The gem turns them into fish while stripping them from their superpowers. Both superpets lose the ability to breathe air, thus Krypto first slaps Streaky into the water, then he jumps there itselt.

The first marine critters found by the super pets are quartet of sharks, which attack the heroes. A bottle-nosed dolphin named Duley aids the morphed animals and takes them around killer whale, causing the shark mob to flee. It turns out tahat Duley and the killer whale named Fred are friends. Streaky and Krypto learn from their newly-met friend in need about "huge sand crab" draining sand from the bottom of the sea.

With combined effort of Duley's senses and Krypto's explanations, it turns out that the "crab" is actually Mechanikat's machine operated by Delilah. The blonde kitty was ordered by her master to steal as much sand as possible to illegally sell it as cat litter. Duley receives an explanation from Krypto, what the kittty litter is, and he admits he finds it repulsive. The underwater current whirls Streaky, causing him to land on Delilah's vehicle's cockpit. Agent 9L ceases drilling sand to repel the heroes.

During the escape from mechanic crab, Duley realizes that Krypto and Streaky have been morphed by Red Kryptonite. The latter does reveal himself being a cat thus the fish from the local area label him as "fish-eater". In the second attempt to avoid pursuit, the dolphin loses consciousness after crashing on the rock. Despite previous judgment, Streaky manages to save Duley's from the mechanical pincers and focuses Delilah's attention on himself while calling Duley "his friend". The morphed "catfish" leads the mechanic crab directly at the shark lair. The predators recognize him immiediately. Before they attack him, Streaky shows them Delilah's device smashing the sunken ship the sharks use as their territory landmark. As it can be expected, the sharks rush at Agent 9L's device.

Being surrounded by sharks, Delilah abandons the vehicle with quite a hefty amount of sand she has stolen from the bottom of the sea. Krypto manages to cut the sand bag off with his own teeth, before the escape pod reaches surface. Enraged Agent 9L goes after the dogfish directly at Fred. One whale-tail blow leads Delilah's vehicle far from the sea bottom, directly on junk ship deck.

The stolen sand is delivered back to the beach with Fred's help. Having brought back the seashore landscape back to normal, Krypto and Streaky suddently regain their standard forms, which causes them to emerge from the water. The super pets fly back home.

Goofs

  • Delilah loses her eye shadow color in a couple of scenes throughout the episode.
  • The scene where Krypto and Streaky are turned into fish contains several animation errors.

Trivia

  • This is the second appearance of Delilah throughout the series. It is also the second time Delilah lands into the garbage after having lost to the Superpets.
  • Delilah calls Duley "a fish", despite it's a well-known fact that dolphins are marine mammals. Apart from that, dolphins eat fish just like cats do, thus Duley's complaint about Streaky's diet lacks logical reasoning.
  • In reality, sharks usually flee from dolphins because dolphins will fight them.
  • Whales do not naturally jump like the one at the end of the episode.
  • This is the first time in the series, when Krypto and Streaky is exposed and affected to the Red Kryptonite.
  • The ship's wreck at the bottom of the sea is shown equipped with a gas stove. In reality, seafaring ships are equipped with electrical stoves, since gas stoves cause danger of explosion.
