The Album (stylized in all caps, also known as BLACKPINK The Album[1]) is the first full-length album by BLACKPINK. It was released on October 2, 2020 with the song "Lovesick Girls" serving as the album's title track. "Pretty Savage" was also promoted on music shows.
"How You Like That" and "Ice Cream" were pre-released on June 26 and August 28, 2020, respectively.
Versions
The Korean physical release comes in four CD versions (#1, #2, #3, and #4) and a limited edition vinyl LP. Only 18,888 copies were made for the LP.[2]
The American physical release comes with the previously mentioned four CD versions and in standard CD and LP editions (both bundled with a digital copy of the album).[3]
The international release comes with the CD versions #1, #2 and #3, and in a standard CD edition.[4] The version #4 is available as a limited edition, exclusive to a few retailers. In the United Kingdom, four exclusive cassette were also available.[5]
Music video
On August 16, 2023, the music video for "Lovesick Girls" reached 700 million views which makes it BLACKPINK's 10th music video to do so.[6]
Commercial performance
The Album debuted at #1 on the Billboard World Albums chart and stayed at #1 for six weeks.[7] It has spent a total of 96 weeks on the Billboard World Albums chart.[8]
On May 17, 2024, the British Phonographic Industry awarded The Album a gold certification.[9]

Goodies
Merchandise
On September 29, 2020, official merchandise was made available through the group's shop by Interscope Records.[10] Additional items were made available on October 8.[11]
On October 8, YG Entertainment revealed official The Album and "Lovesick Girls" merchandise on its official shop YG SELECT; 4 Polaroid cards with undisclosed selfies of the members are gifted for any purchase of items on pre-order status.[12] On October 14, Limited Cashbee transportation cards were made available for sale at YG SELECT and on specialized retailers' websites.[13]
Photobook
A limited edition photobook was released few months after the album's release, to celebrate the group's fifth anniversary. It is a 208-page hardcover photobook, which showcases unreleased pictures taken during the album photoshoot and the "How You Like That", "Ice Cream" and "Lovesick Girls" music video shootings. It also includes a History Poster Set, which follows BLACKPINK's journey since their debut, and a sticker set.
